Childminders Club - what do you do when a child starts attending morning/afternoon sessions at nursery??

My ds and one of my mindees will be starting the nursery classes at the school some time next year (waiting to hear when they start).

What do you do regarding charges? Do you just charge for the hours you work and hope to fill the gap with another mindee? What happens if the mindee gets sent home for something? Would that be down to the parents to collect or do childminders collect? If childminder does then you could end up over your numbers.

What do you do???

Just to confirm, they will be aged 3 when they start so still affect my 'under 5's' numbers.

i look after a 3yr old who starts nursery next week i am not reducing her money as you cant fill a place for 2 hrs,and yes i will be on call for her. After all she has a full time place.

If I take and pick up the child I charge whilst they are at pre school/nursery as I would be unable to fill those 2hrs and this also holds their place open for the school holidays

Thanks guys, that's what I was hoping as I don't think I'll be able to fill those spaces!

If I was doing the dropping off and picking up, then I would charge something for that period in-between.

So far, the only nursery runs I've done only involve me doing the drop-off or picking-up, so giving me an entire morning or afternoon free. If parents want me to be responsible for the child in that time, then I would charge. If parents take responsibility, then I don't charge, but parents will also have to sort it out if child is unwell.

I have two mindies who at present go to the local school nursery class & I still get paid full fees for them, one of them mum would collect if neccessary although is morre likely to contact me to get her dd & the other I am most likely to collect as both parents work in jobs it is difficult to leave or get to me/school in a hurry. Also I still have them on inset days & holidays so am unable to fill their spaces during that time, especially as it is for only 2.5 hours per session.
