Hi I've already posted a few question on here and the response has been brilliant, but then I thought I've not really said anything about me so here goes...I'm a newly registered childminder in manchester and I look after 2 under 5's (siblings) part time and have a 3 year old daughter. I've been looking for a chat place like this for about a month and I'm so pleased I found this one because there is loads of really good advice on here and everyone seems really friendly. I'm not sure if I'll be on here that often but hopefully a couple of times a week. Speak to you all soon Karen

Hello Karen, I post on here a reasonable amount (sometimes more than I should!)

I*'ve been registered for about 18months and look after 5 children.

ThePrisoner · 18/09/2005 20:53

Hello! I've been registered forever (it sometimes feels like it). I currently mind 12 children/week, aged from 5 months - 10 years, but obviously not all at the same time, with another 5 occasional/holidays. A mindee's mummy introduced me to mumsnet!

katymac · 18/09/2005 21:23

Hiya - I'm 2.5 yrs in with a group of minders working together from my house.

We have about 12 mindees and can mind up to 9 under 5's at a time

I really enjoy mumsnetting - but my DH gets fed up with it

blodwen · 18/09/2005 22:19

Hello Karen. I've been minding 14 years, currently have 10 mindees from 8 months to 10 years ( 4 over 5 and 6 under 5), all term time only . I live in West Sussex, and am just about to become a Support Childminder.

Tan1959 · 18/09/2005 22:27

Hello Karen

I've been a childminder since May and mind two under fives

The Prisoner - same here, mindees mum introduced me to mumsnet too!

ThePrisoner · 18/09/2005 22:47

Tan - does she know you post on here? If yes, does she know it's you?!

HellyBelly · 19/09/2005 10:06

Hi Karen. I got my certificate at the end of May and started minding on 4th July. My own ds is 2.6 and I now mind the following: 23 months & 2.7 full time and 5yrs & 9yrs in school hols (and some school pickup days).

A friend introduced me to mumsnet and I love it. So many lovely ladies in the childminders club and so much information - I don't know what I would do without them!! Unfortunately my others businesses have got too busy so I can't come and chat as much as I used to Always seem to find the odd excuse though

Tan1959 - I live in a 'deprived' area too and got the higher grant. At first I thought they were saying we lived in a deprived area as in we're all poor and they feel sorry for us until I found out it was because they were deprived of childminders in the area (still only ever had 2 enquiries through the CIS though!)

HellyBelly · 19/09/2005 10:09

for those who want to know what on earth I'm going on about re 'deprived area' - I'd been reading the other thread about the grants and thought that was mentioned on here

karen23 · 19/09/2005 12:53

I'm such a part timer compared to most of you, at the most I do 20 hours a week. I've been trying to get more school runs but theres an after school club and I cant compete with their prices.
When it says childminders club at the beginning of a thread, is it actually a club or do you just write it so all the childminders know its about childminding?

kcemum · 19/09/2005 13:10

We write it so that other minders can see it's about minding/needing advise etc.

Tan1959 · 19/09/2005 23:52

ThePrisoner - she knows I post on here but she hasn't mentioned whether she knows which of us is me! How about yours?

HellyBelly - I too have only had two enquiries through the CIS and only very recently but work is starting to filter through now

HellyBelly · 20/09/2005 08:35

Luckily I did lots of advertising myself and my website helped as one of the CIS enquiries was for a school run only and the other was for 1 day a week! Was surprised as not many minders in my area!

ThePrisoner · 20/09/2005 19:09

Tan - I don't think the mum comes onto mumsnet much herself anyway. If she did, I'd expect her to say lovely things about her wonderful childminder! Does your mindees mum use the site herself?

I've told a couple of minders about this site - I got a text from one which read something like, "I am not a number ... is that you?"

I had this bright idea of being completely anonymous when I first started, so I could be controversial and difficult, but I think anyone I knew would probably know it's me by the sort of information I've put on here, so decided I'd better be more sensible (which is definitely not me at all, but I'm paranoid and think that all the other posters are probably tax inspectors and OFSTED employees and are just out to get me!)
