Hello, I'm moving to the area in a few weeks and am looking for a good, experienced childminder who is happy to look after a very active baby girl (soon to be 11 months old) and has at least 1 other child she can play with.
Its all a bit of a mindfield so thought I'd seek guidance from parents in the area - I've also looked at nurseries but the waiting lists are incredibly long expecially at Zoom but would be happy to look at others if recommended.
I'm also looking for local activities/groups I could take her to - she loves singing and music
and playing with other children.
Any advice would be gratfully recieved -

Linda :)

hello, I don't live in Hither Green but live nearby. I found my first childminder through childcare.co.uk, when she moved away I met my current childminder by going along to the childminder drop in session (basically a playgroup for childminders) which is held at the Irish Centre in Catford, about 10 minutes walk from HG. I will get banned forever from mumsnet for saying this but have you tried netmums? MN is obviously my preferred site Grin but I do find Netmums very good for information on what's going on in the local area (lewisham) and I also got a lot of replies to an ad I put on there when I was looking for a childminder. With regards to playgroups I used to go to Boppin Bunnies at Hither Green Baptist Church which was a very friendly small group and DD loved it. Just google Boppin Bunnies for details. I'm not sure how to put a link in to another thread (currently too sleep deprived to work it out!) but there is a thread about mother and toddler groups in Lewisham which already lists all the other playgroups I was going to mention. Finally, the surestart centres round here are very good and you can get a full timetable of their activities online. Hope that's helpful.

I still haven't worked out how to do a link but if you want to look at the other thread the title is Any mum and baby groups in lewisham?.

Hi there

We had a FANTASTIC childminder on Manor Park in Hither Green who was just wonderful. Do you want me to find out if she has any vacancies? She was so fab that even though we moved away 2 years ago we're still in touch.

Hi there
I am also looking for childcare in Hither Green - for 2 children. Of course, you have first dibs ldmc but i would be interested in hearing about the Manor Park childminder pencil-test if ldmc does not think it suitable for her! Also, ldmc, how many days are you looking for? I do know of another childminder and I am also open to the possibility of nanny sharing if that is something of interest to you? I know it's a longshot but you never know. Thanks

Hello, I have been living in the area for about 2 months and I am looking for a good, experienced childminder who is happy to look after my 20 months old baby girl and who has other children she can play with. As I am very new to the area and word of mouth is the best form of publicity I would like to get some guidance from other parents/mums who could recommend a good childminder they are currently using or have used in the past. I have already looked at nurseries and the waiting list is very long. I am a full time single mum working in the city. My little girl is currently going to a nursery in Central London nearby where I work, but the daily commuting is very tiring and distressful for my little one. Any advice or recommendations would be very much helpful and appreciated :)

Have you tried posting/looking on the Hither Green forum? It's pretty useful for all things local and a couple of those who post regularly are/are married to childminders.

Hi! DS has just finished going to a wonderful CM on Manor Lane (in order to start at pre-school and because I'm on mat leave). He's been with her since he was 11 months and she really is fab. Let me know if you want details. Really can't recommend her highly enough.

Hello Limelight

I wonder if you could please pass me the details of the CM on Manor Lane, currently looking for a good CM for my 11 month son. It is always good to get a recommended one.

Hello! ive just read this thread as I am looking for a lovely childminder for my 7 month old in Hither Green. Ldmc - would you be able to email me your childminder details please and also if its not the same childminder the one of Manor Lane/Manor Park would be really good to contact too. Im looking for a childminder for March time so i'm starting the search now. My baby has been on the waiting list for Zoom for ages but they are only taking kids in September now so any advice on great childminders would be appreciated.
Thanks

melonfry5 · 17/01/2012 15:44
