Scottish nursery system...can anyone help?

Morning,

DS will have his 15 hours a week starting after the summer holidays next year. Due to us both working he'll probably remain in private nursery 4 days per week (I have 1 day off).

Do we get anything towards our private fees come next Summer? Also, given he has 1 day off nursery, could he then take up a 1 day place at the school nursery?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Best to ask the nursery, as they may offer two funded sessions in one day, or only one funded session per day.

Entitlement starts the term following their 3rd Birthday. So am I right to assume that your DS is 3 sometime in June/July/Aug?

The free entitlement can be split between providers - Midlothian FIS says max of two centres.

DD2 goes 3 five hour sessions a week, from next month (her 3rd birthday) 12.5 of those hours will be funded during term time. She will still attend 3 five hour days so i will pay for 2.5 hours a week in term time and 15 per week outwith (13 weeks a year I think) Nursery have averaged otu over year to make payments easier.

Where we live they have just changed entitlement to funding the day following their 3rd birthday.

I'd ask nursery as each nursery and each local authority may have slightly different rules.

I dont think school nurseries allow you to only go 1 day per week - you usually have to go all 5 days.

Thanks. He'll be 3 next July.
