Overnight Care?

Has anyone registered for overnight care?

I want to but DH is not too keen on the idea. I think it would be a good idea so that I can keep all options open. I am not registered yet but a friend completed her registration recently and can provide overnight care, she said something that made me think twice. When her registration was completed, a person from the local Family Information Service visited her and said that not many childminders register for overnight care and that it is common for the local authority to place children with such childminders for 'emergency fostering', obviously for short periods.

Is this common? Has anyone experienced this?

I am not sure

All LA's work differently. SS and FIS go through the Approved network of minders who provide overnight care for placements.

You need to think about overnights, especially 'emergency fostering'. and i think if your hubs isn't on side then you do have to consider his feelings and thoughts on this. After all his home is being 'invaded' daytimes and then you would be onduty/working again at night.
