Hi,I am a cm and I am 35 weeks pregnant and will be returning to work 2 weeks after my baby is born. I have applied for a variation to look after 4 under 5's for a few hours on 2 days a week. This includes my own baby. I was told over the phone that it would be granted because its for continuity of care and that I would just need to inform them when baby was born and they would make a definate decision and send out certificate. However out of nowhere mrs ofsted rang last week and said she would need to come and see me about it because its quite complicated! I was last inspected in June 09 and was given a good with some areas outstanding, what I want to know is will this be a full inspection or just about the variation? Has anyone had any experience of this?

It should be just about the variation I would have thought. It might be worth phoning them again and offering to 'save them a visit' by answering questions over the phone?

Would have thought it would be just about the variation. Maybe they want to clarify something which you have put on your variation request and feel that is best done in person. They may well be doing full inspections locally, so just add it on as a quick visit.

Thats interesting HSMM, I didnt realise I could do that? Hopefully it will be just a visit, not that its a problem if they do need to inspect me, its just that dreaded ofsted sort of feeling!

I don't know if a phone call will work, but it's worth a try, unless you're happy for them to visit anyway.
