Working with other childminders

Does anyone work with a co-childminder or assistant/s? Myself and my cousin are registering at the mo, we've both had our registration visits from OFSTED are just waiting for our CRB checks to go through.

We'll be working from my house and OFSTED have said we can have 7 children between us plus my dd.

How many is everyone else registered for?

Do over 8's affect your numbers at all or can you have those on top of your allowance?

You can have as many over 8's as you want as long as they do not affect your care of the under 8's.
I work alone and am registered for 5 mindees under 8, 3 of whom can be under 5 (I can only have 5 cos I have a 5 year old of my own).
Katymac works with her husband and assisants so she will be able to answer you better but she is on holiday at the moment.
Good luck.

Isn't there a restriction on the total number of minded children we can have, including over 8s, regarding our public liability insurance? (You can tell I don't read the small print!) Another minder told me that she thought we could only have a maximum of 10 children??

TrulyS - is that 7 children (plus your dd) under the age of 8?

HellyBelly · 24/08/2005 22:04

Can I just hijack and ask if an 8 yr old counts as under or over 8??? Stupid question but I've asked a couple of minders and there's some confusion about the actual age of 8 IYKWIM.

Just wanted confirmation.

Thanks

Hellybelly, An eight year old counts as an over eight...must remember to inform ofstead when DD turns eight

Cheers! Reason I ask is there is a local girl who comes and plays at the park and comes back sometimes to play - she's bored, her parents are happy to have her out and the other kids love her. I had been restricting her coming over so that she can't come when I have x number of kids, as I wasn't quite sure whether or not she counted in my numbers.
