As the title says really. I need to find a cm in a town where I don't really know peopele, so can't ask for recommendations. Is there somewhere I can look for registered cm's.

Contact your local Families Information Service (FIS). That service is provided Free by your local/county council.

A list of FIS - if you need help in finding your local FIS.

Once you have found the correct contact details, call them (or e-mail) and ask for a list of childminders in your area.

If having difficulty working out which FIS is your one... then try calling 0800 2346 346 which should put you through to the right one.

Or post details on here of where you live and someone may be able to find the correct contact details for you.

If you are in Scotland - use ScottishChildcare.co.uk to find your local Childcare Information Service.
The website also provides some online listings for childminders, though it may not be a complete list - so always best to contact the Families/Childcare Information Service.

If in Wales, try here for contact details of your local FIS.

If in Northern Ireland, try NICMA Find-A-Childminder
