Care to learn is a scheme to help teenagers with children to stay in school.. Its some government thing, childminding fee's are paid by them.

I did it a couple of years ago, pain free, you get a schedule of payments for the next 12 mths and payment goes direct into your bank account. Only thing is, if your charges for childcare are more than their maximum weekly amount then you aren't allowed to ask the parent to make up the shortfall.

Also, remember if you have a parent under 18yrs then you need a parent or other adult to sign it as 'guarantor'.

Have all the bumph somewhere - off to find it.....

never used it but it's here

I have just finished using it and have used it for the last 2 years. Had a devil of a job getting the payment in the first place but once I got it the payments were paid direct to my bank account and always on time. I just had to sign for it each month in a letter they sent you and that was it.

I have also just finished minding a child under this scheme. This is the second child I have cared for that has been funded in this way. I have had no problems at all with recieving payment. I am a big fan of the Care to Learn scheme and advertise the fact locally in the hope that more teenage parents will use my setting.
