Baby Jessi Born at last!

Hi Ladies. Yipeee! I did it! Just wanted to announce the arrival of my baby Jessi who was induced last friday and is a whopper at almost 9lbs. The induction wasn't ideal but dilated to 10cm after just one gel pessary, in under 3 hours. Long second stage of almost another 3 hours, quick twizzle of her head in theatre with a ventouse and I pushed her out with the next contraction. (it was an OP delivery-my midwife was right, I have a funny shaped pelvis so my babies come out that way.)I had no decent pain relief, not through choice but the epidural failed and gas and air made me heave. Ended up having the synotocin (sp?) drip at the very end of 1 1/2 hours intense pushing as contractions slowed down and she was well and truly stuck.I have to say that it this bit REALLY hurt and I was gutted not to have any pain relief for my back which felt like it was breaking with the pressure. However, I feel very lucky, it was a really intense 6 hours but I almost ended up with a general and a C-Section and it was the most amazing feeling pushing her out, a fantastic experience. She is, of course, the most beautiful babe and feeding well so far. Not getting much sleep but who cares! Ds has taken to being a big brother very quickly, but I guess its only day 3 so we've a way to go yet. Bye, time for a nap!

Congratulations
I had an epidural that worked only on one side, but I was grateful for that. What are you calling her?

Thanks so much to you all for such good wishes. We are doing fine, today I have boobs from hell and haven't really slept much since she was born, but still absolutely over the moon that I have my little girl safe and sound at last. Thank-you again, I am sure I will be hanging around all the relevant newborn threads in the coming days/weeks!

Congratulations jessi, sorry this is rather belated. Been busy with my ds's birthday. Hope all is still well

Congratulations. I had my second baby girl 2 months ago so i can completely sympathise with the sleepless nights. The sense of achievement after giving birth is amazing isn't it? i'd do it all again tomorrow i think it's fantastic, a painful kind of fantastic.
