I'm almost a week overdue been having crampy back pains not majorly painfull but fairlyfrequent. I've been having quite a bit of clear discharge the last few days but earlier it was a little pink and just it was a bit bloody. Is this normal? I can't remember from last time, I've got a midwife apt in an hour but I don't like seeing the blood there makes me worry. I'm guessing it could be a show?

bloody mucous is almost certainly a show. The cramps are a good sign too, but there are no absolute signs when labour will start I'm afraid, just a case of wait and see. The midwife may offer to do a membrane sweep, or you could ask as NICE recommends them at 41 weeks. Good luck.

mmmmmchocolate · 27/05/2010 15:01

Thank you. I hope I don't have to wait too long

Sounds like a show, could still be a while yet.
Seems like things are moving though

Are you live-labouring on here?

mmmmmchocolate · 27/05/2010 17:15

Could do sorky might be a very long thread

Where are you? WAs that the start?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/05/2010 22:46

ooooh I hope it was - good luck, I hope evrything goes smoothly. xx

CosmicMum27 · 27/05/2010 23:09

Yes that sounds very much like I how mine labour started.

I remember it clearly (and it was 10 years ago!) I had mild lower back pains with a pinky discharge, I was expecting to feel sensations around the belly and frontal area so I kept passing it off as constipation!

Take a long bath and relax

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 08:11

It's started pains are about 6-7 mins apart but only lasting 45 ish seconds. So long way to go yet. They're also only really in my lower back and pelvis. I'm in the midlands. On my own with DD today noone to pander to me

Sounds very positive

What's your plan from now?

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 08:49

Plan? I have to have a plan? Lol just sit and wait I guess until they get longer and closer together. This went on for days with DD so I don't hold out much hope it will move quickly. Unimpressed the contractions are in my back again it made the pain relief useless last time. Don't like the thought of having no options again

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 28/05/2010 08:59

LOl no guess you don't need a plan, i was just wondering about you being on your own with DD, and when you might call for someone (MW/DP?) to come?

I don't know anything about back contractions, but sure someone else will come along with tips, all i know is every labour can be different, so fingers crossed it's better this time.

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 09:04

Ooh, how exciting, i can keep you company if you like as i am taking it easy atm.

Thats if i don't kill this thread too....

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 09:14

Don't worry alice. I guarantee I'm a better thread killer than you I'm not sure when I'll call for DP he wanted to stay but it's wasting his already short leave and I'll need him afterwards to help me with DD while I try to get bfeeding established. He's going to try and use a holiday day tomorrow and he's off Sunday/Monday. DD is infront of cbeebies so I have peace until I turn it off

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 09:23

Is he far away? Could he get home quickly should you need him to? I agree though, if you don't feel you need him here then he may as well be at work.

Are you having a homebirth?

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 09:27

He's 10 mins away luckily. And can leave as soon as I ring him. No will be going to hospital I'm considered high risk so a homebirth is not an option. I'm just hoping i can get quite far at home though. I didn't have a great experience last time and the thought of going back to the hospital terrifies me.

OP posts:
mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 09:29

Contractions have gone back up to 9 mins and are slightly under a minute. I'm probably UNdialating lol

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 09:51

I had a very long labour with DD that resulted in a emcs, so my plan is to stay at home for as long as possible this time too.
I think i tried to hurry things along a bit too much.

Who is going to have your DD when you go to the hospital?

JustKeepSwimming · 28/05/2010 10:05

LOL at undilating

Most people seem to find that during the day with stuff going on things slow down, then speed up again at night. So just try and take it easy, lots of CBeebies (), don't forget to eat & drink, keep your energy levels up, etc.

mitfordsisters · 28/05/2010 11:28

Ooh hope it's going okay mmmchocolate and you make quick progress.

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 11:29

Do you think it has all kicked off?

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 11:59

No nothings kicked off lol. I jst had a nap, woke up every 10 mins in pain though. Dd very entertained with cbeebies! I think I should get up and do something try and get things moving again. MIL will have DD while I'm at the hosp, DP hinted about calling her to come round and 'keep me company' today. Does he not realise I'm about to go through enough!! thanks fir all you're messages x

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 12:06

Last thing you need is somebody telling you what you should be doing!

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 12:32

Yer I'd probably be doing it wrong

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 12:42

Without a doubt!

JustKeepSwimming · 28/05/2010 13:15

I know my MIL would bring things to a standstill! Definite undilating territory, lol
