I'm almost a week overdue been having crampy back pains not majorly painfull but fairlyfrequent. I've been having quite a bit of clear discharge the last few days but earlier it was a little pink and just it was a bit bloody. Is this normal? I can't remember from last time, I've got a midwife apt in an hour but I don't like seeing the blood there makes me worry. I'm guessing it could be a show?

mmmmchocolate just wanted to say goodluck!

i am due tomorrow, i am looking forward to the end of being pg so half of me is jealous and wishes it was me too.

the other half is bricking it big time and i'm so glad it's not me!

hahaha does that make any sense.

anyway, hope everything's going ok.

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 16:17

Well? Update?

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 16:29

Thanks sunshiney hope things happen soon for you too. So are all the ladies on this thread due soon? Contractions are between 8-9 mins but still less than a minute. I'm struggling to find a position I'm comfy in. I've been suffering from SPD since about 20 weeks so if I'm sat on my butt it hurts my lower back, if I go on all fours my thighs ache and I can't get up and if I sit on the gym ball I can't stand back up. I can see this going on until induction day..... Do you think the hosp would give me a nudge along or make me suffer for the next 5 days?? Who does this more than twice?? lol

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 16:38

I am coming up to 30weeks, but have been having contractions so was in hosp last week with steroids and been told to take things easy so as not to set anything off.

Could you have a relax in the bath? Would that help ease the discomfort? Is DH home yet?

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 16:47

Oh god at least they managed to stop the contractions. Is it your first baby? I've had a few baths but because I'm semi reclined in it it makes the backpain worse. No DP is still at work he won't be home until 6-6.30ish glad really as I havnt washed up and the front room looks like... Well like a toddler has hit it!! It's a shame cos it's been lovely out and we could have gone out or something but I would be nervous on my own.

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 17:16

Contractions start up again if i do too much. It is my second, DD is 2.6yrs, so like you my house looks like a toddler has hit it!

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 17:23

Well it's a good excuse to do nothing my DD is a bit older she will be 3 in a month. She's been an angel though has just played with her toys all day and not bugged me for any attention. She just looks at me when I have a pain and says 'are you ok mommy?' though there will be some protest soon if I don't feed her!

mmmm - not pg here, yet, just love a labour thread

putting money on things hotting up once DD is in bed!

Make sure you have some dinner too

Alicetheinvisible · 28/05/2010 19:41

Oh, yes, always at stupid o'clock

sunshiney · 28/05/2010 19:42

Ooohhh mmmchoc just don't do what I did and leave it late getting to hospital because I thought I had ages.

How bad are the pains?

mmmmmchocolate · 28/05/2010 20:37

Hey all pains had gone down to 5 mins but seem to be at 7 mins right now. Lasting a minute I'm not coping with the pain though but I don't want to go in to be sent back home. I think I'm being a baby with the pain but I just don't have a very high pain barrier. Does anyone think I should phone I don't feel close but I want some drugs!! I've had tea had a lovely Chinese hope I'm not sick lol

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 28/05/2010 21:16

I would say phone, they seem to be good at judging over the phone how bad it is.

Don't feel you are being a wuss, get pain relief in early (if you want) to get on top of it.

Good luck! (wish you were having a homebirth though!

sunshiney · 28/05/2010 22:26

You've gone quiet so I'm guessing things ramped up!

Good luck, I'll be keeping an eye on birth announcements!

mmmmmchocolate · 29/05/2010 08:13

No it seemed to ease off. They were bouncing between 4-7 mins so I went to lie down with a water bottle and went to sleep. Woke up every time I had a pain but they had gone back to 10-15 mins. They're about 8-9 this morning but more intense. I don't think I'll start properly until induction how am I going to put up with this for another 5 days

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 29/05/2010 08:36

Oh dear

You've got DP at home now for a few days though right?

You could start trying the things to speed it up/move it along:

  • sideways up and down the stairs (if spd allows)
  • ball bouncing
  • sex?
  • curry?
  • nipple tweaking?
  • (and my fave to try next time) sit on loo reading a funny book (or a sex scene apparently)
Tobermory · 29/05/2010 08:45

Mmmmmmmmchocolate, hope things get moving for you and you don't have to wait too long.

I have been having quite a lot of back pain for the last 24 hours, will be 39 weeks tomorrow, but put it down to having a dodgy back despie nit having any back ache all pregnancy! More discharge (TMI) than usual but nothing bloody so it's nothing... Right?!!

Am booked in for a section on Tuesday and feeling quite weird about it all.

mmmmmchocolate · 29/05/2010 09:08

Ill try the stairs thing, see if that helps Sex tho? Ewwwwww "Right youve got 8 mins 34 secs til the next contraction HURRY UP!!" Ha ha ha ha. I might go sit on the loo if only to get some peace :D
Tober- Ive had lots of discharge, glad its not just me I dont remember this from last time?
How come youre booked for a section? I hoped for a section this time, I'm so shit scared of having a labour like last time and had a low lying placenta early on but it moved up out of the way. I was gutted, how bad is that?!!!

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 29/05/2010 14:12

Hey, how you getting on?

I always see people mentioning watching a comedy during labour as the laughing helps (endorphins perhaps?) with the pain management.

But then again you may have had baby by now!

mmmmmchocolate · 29/05/2010 14:38

No no baby contractions have distanced further to 15 mins but are really painful I feel like my pelvis is going to shatter. It and my back hurts all the time even the baby moving makes me wince. I'm trying to distract myself watching tv/eating lol. I'm annoyed I just didn't go in last night at least they might have kept me and helped things along. I can hardly call now and say I'm not really having regular contractions but I'm in quite a bit of pain they'd laugh their asses off!

I had a scan at 34 weeks and she was back up in the right position and I've tried to keep her there. I'm a bit on the lardy side myself so can't feel myself but the movements are at the top and sides which I assume are feet and elbows. I've had no movements really on my stomach for a couple of months except swishing so I'm pretty sure she's not moved back to back. Plus at 38 weeks I was measuring at over 10 pounds so I think she's pretty much wedged. I do agree it sounds like a B2B labour though.

Thanks starlight. I'm lying on my left side as I type as it's the only position that takes at least some if the pressure off my back. I've got a ball but I'm 5.10 5.11 and the ball is for people up to 5.06 it puts my knees above my pelvis and causes more pain. I used a (correctly sized) ball at the hosp last time and it did help so I'm hoping I can do the same again. Ill try leaning over it in a bit see if that eases things. Lol at the erotic novels I can see me waddling into ann summers to buy some!! Ha ha. Contractions back under 10 mins and lasting minute to minute and a half.

Don`t make the mistake that I made with the second which was to compare the labour to the first. They were so different. I hung about at home wondering what to do, contractions got closer, pain got worse. When it was unbearable, we drove to maternity Unit. By time i got there i was in agony, I was 9 cm, 40 minutes later it was all over. Very fast, very painful, I was too late for the epidural. I would go now if i was you. Better to be sent home than it all to go out of control. Good luck, so exciting xx
