My lovely sister is having contractions!! my parents are there and so is her DH. We are all rooting for her. Pains started about lunchtime and are getting stronger, closer and more regular, she had a show yesterday and a sweep this morning.

just spoke to her on the phone and she had to stop to have a contraction

soooooooooooooooo excited, but i can't be with her ( 200 miles away! ) but my mum will be brilliant ,as will her DH

please send all your good labour and birthing vibes to ruby

xxxxx

It's lovely to see. Bet you can't wait to be with them.

I can't wait for the birth story. It's bound to be a good one.

Lulumama · 03/10/2009 19:51

oh i will!!
gya.. i was not at the birth, she lives 200 miles away, but i was texting encuoragement and doula words of wisdom to her Dh and my mum who were there

i was sat here, typing and shaking

they are home now and settled, seen some more pics, she is so beautiful and so alert and clear eyed. breastfeeding going well and her big brother is slightly (!) over excited and hysterical

my train ticket is booked and i am counting down the hours until i;m there

thank you all , from the bottom of my heart, for all the lovely messages, i know ruby is really touched too xxx

No I know you weren't actually there.

Realised after I wrote that that it was confusing..

Have fun when you see her! What's her name?

rubyslippers · 04/10/2009 09:44

this thread is so lovely - thank you for all the good wishes

birth story os here:

was incredibly quick - had a stretch and sweep ant 11.30 am, cx started at 1.00 pm every 20 mins, then every 12 and then a weird break. Labour ward wanted me in as baby was very quiet so when we were in the car cx started again with a vengeance - took nearly 40 mins to get to hospital

cx were now coming evety 4 mins - MW checked me at 6.30 pm ish and was 4cm so we dashed off to the delivery suite and luckily the pool room was free - whoop!

my mum kept showing me or reading lulu's text messages as well

the water was bliss and really helped - i didn't let go of the gas and air but the cx were coming in huge waves with no breaks - at 8 pm i felt i wanted to push

at 8.10 my waters went

at 8.15 the head was out at at 8.18 she was born under water around 7.5 hours after labour started!

the MW laid her on me and i saw she was a girl

we stayed in the water for a bit and DH cut the cord

i then staggered out of the pool and delivered the placenta - we had an hour of skin to skin and feeding which was bliss - no hurry to get her weighed or dressed

she was 6 lbs 6 oz - no name yet!

she is feeding a lot but as my milk isn't in yet it is a bit tiring and my nipples are already a bit sore as her latch is not great but we will get there

OnlyWantsOneFartleBerry · 04/10/2009 09:46
