OH MY GOSH I HAD RASPBERRY LEAF TEA FOR WEEKS BEFORE GIVING BIRTH - WENT TWO WEEKS OVER BUT THE BIRTH WAS WONDERFULL!!!
1 HOUR AND 6 minutes on the labour ward - no pain releif and it was NOT painful. Jake was born after Three pushes.
I was going to be induced but i started myself - I reccomend just relaxing if you are overdue - your muscles will become less tense and labour will begin x

Hey Louloubell, how big was the baby?

Gem1355 · 18/03/2005 17:40

Hi

Went to ante natal today and good news baby is moving further down, so defintely 2/5 and going to 1/5. Dr gave me something else for heartburn so will try that, but he said thinks baby will be early and to keep doing all the things i am now, ie taking raspberry capsules, got loads of fresh fruit, long walks and curries(although won't help heartburn), and baby will make it's entrance soon enough.

Was told the hospital i'm going to doesn't do mobile epidurals so will have to grin and bear the pain!!!!
But he said to ask for normal at the beginning as they can prepare it if i think i need it!
Had a good day done alot of walking and it's great weather today as well so that helped.
Booked a reflexology session this morning so hopefully that will help abit if not good reason to relax!!

Gem1355 - beware of trying too hard to get this baby to come because you may still have a few weeks to go yet! There is a danger you get obsessed by it. Try finding relaxing things to do for your last few baby free days

bambi06 · 18/03/2005 22:18

homeopathy definitely..especially caulophyllum 200/ cimifuga 200..where do you live and maybe i can send someone some remedies as my kit is just sitting in the cupboard not doing much..i`m not planning on having anymore!!

bambi06 · 18/03/2005 22:19

helios homepathics have a website or you can call them and they`ll deliver remedies next working day ..i think

Gem1355 · 18/03/2005 22:22

Its not so much i want it to be here early as the longer its in the better i just want this horrible heartburn to go away and Dr said today the only way to get rid is to have baby.
I've got alot of relaxing things to do over the next 2 weeks. so going to make the most of it!!!

I've just interviewed a medically qualified homeopathic consultant of some 35 years who says that homeopathy won't start labour but can help with a labour that isn't progressing as it should.

Heathcliffscathy · 18/03/2005 23:45

errr...it's not sex per se, it's having an orgasm that ime can help bring on labour. despite lack of anyone else, could you do this for yourself?? somehow?

tiny01 · 20/03/2005 07:51

also rubbing the bottom of your feet around the heel. Fairly hard pressure with your thumb, I was told this by a reflexoligist. This is supposed to stimulate all the right bits. I was a beautician in my old life and we had a chair in the salon in that we called the baby chair. we had at lot of pregnant clients going into labour the day of their pedicure where we gave a good massage.

Fennel · 20/03/2005 09:40

believe me if ANY of these suggestions worked reliably I would not have had 2 of my 3 at least a week late.

even sex with orgasms several times a day is not going to kick start a baby who doesn't want to come out.

Willow2 · 20/03/2005 18:25

Supposedly the prostaglandins that you are given if you go in to be induced are similar to a hormone found in semen which is why it's suggested that sex can help get labour started - but apparently there's only a small amount in semen so you would need a bucket load of the stuff for it to do any good!

In Germany the midwives recommend the Perineal Massage from 38 weeks to improve elasticity of the area and try to avoid episiotomy, which I didn't get to try as DS came earlier.

They also give you the recipe of a cocktail to drink after 40 weeks. If I make it to 40 weeks this time I will write to my midwife and ask her for it. I remember it had some homeopathics in it, some kind of oil, as well as some schnapps and a few other bits and pieces.

My Naturopath and I are waiting till thired trimester to start of the raspberry leaf supplements - apparently tablets may be better than tea, unless you are planning to drink a bucket of it every day - which I just don't have time to do while chasing my 2yo around.

My accupuncturist says he sees most pregnant women when they are overdue and want to be brought on, or have their baby turned around. Whereas he is seeing me to help me relax and hang in there till term.

Given my last premmie birth I was thinking of banning orgasms in third trimester, a big sacrifice, but worth it if it helps DS2 stay in longer.

Hi

No news to report been so busy over the weekend, helped my ex fiance move house, cleaned my car, painted the walls in mum & dads living room, as they are hoping to finish decorating before baby is born. been getting loads of BH contractions but that is because i've been doing to much.
Feels like got Af pains, but okay. Just waiting for the arrival now, willbe going to collect my pram later. was hoping all the walking around etc would help i think i can feel the head moving down slighlty but nothing else other than that, just have to keep doing what i'm doing, but looking forward to my reflexology session next week.

Sorry also forgot whilst taking the raspberry leaf tea i used evening primrose oil too, the evening primrose oil is inserted into the vagina and also helps to ripen the cervix, though i still went a week over with dd2 it was a wonderful birth with no pain till i was ready to push, it took all of 2 1/2 hours, hope it was to do with the tea and oil 'cos i'm gonna be doing it again this time, i'm only 24wks and am feeling extremely uncomfortable so i'll probably start at around 32 wks instead of 35.

Gem1355 · 22/03/2005 12:02

Well got a few niggling pains this morning and my back really hurts so just going to see how it goes. I think i'm going to trun into a fruit soon i keep eating so much of it!!!

Gem1355 - I had reflexology weekly for the last 6 weeks of my first pregnancy and my ds arrived 2 days early. Don't know if it was the reflexology or fate, but if nothing else it will help you relax. My reflexologist told me that the soft part of your thumb at the top is the point for your pituitry (sp!) gland which triggers labour, so I used to knead it with the knuckle of my fore finger on of the other hand - does that make sense??! Anyway, good luck and positive thinking helped me through labour - sounds silly but try to see it as a positive experience
