sorry your so fed up. I would agree about the mint (polos). My friend had really bad heartburn and she swore by peppermint cordial (get it in an offlicience)in soda water. Made her belch like crazy. She even drinks it now in vodka (after baby of course). The Clary-sage oil is supposed to be good to. I bought some yesterday so I will let you know if it works. Another friend was due on New years eve and she desperatly wanted to have it then so she 1. Took castor oil. 2. Ran up and down the stairs of her appt. 3. Had her husband make a hot curry. 4. Then had long v.hot bath while drinking raspberry leaf tea. 5. she was just about to have sex when her waters broke and her labour was 40mins from start to finish. Thank god the hospital was close. Her baby was the first to be born in 2002 in Germany and the longest baby the hospital delivered. Poor thing must have had G.force coming that quickly. Good luck.

My DD came at 37.5 weeks, she was a perfect weight (7lb 1oz) and had great APGARs. Most hospitals and HCPs consider a baby born @ 38 weeks as a 'term baby'.

Perineal massage is great, I'm pretty sure that's what started me off. MW recommended it.

NomDePlume · 17/03/2005 11:18

castor oil just gives the runs.

i swear by homeopathy as it got my second labour going (i didnt try it with my first but wish i had as he was 3 weeks over!!)call a homeopath and they can sell/loan you a birthing kit in it or give you specific remedies..i took my remedy and within the hour i started to get twinges but they died off so i took some more and it brought it on gently. cat me if you want more details..good luck

Toothache · 17/03/2005 13:06

I drank lots of Raspberry Leaf tea to ripen up the cervix.... I sat on my birthing ball every evening to drop the head down.... then at 39weeks I pinned DH down and forced him to have sex! First time I got bad cramps right after it. So I went to labour ward to be told I was 2-3cm. Next day I pinned him down again.... cramps started right after again. Went back to labour ward to be told I was 4 cm and in Labour!! Dd was born 12 hours later.

Hi

Toothache would love to have lots of sex to get it going but no one to have it with!!!!

The salon i go to is also a beauty centre and the beautician said would do reflexology on a reduced price as i'm in there every 4-6 weeks!!!
Had a great nites sleep last nite but feel so stretched and uncomfortable today, but only 19 days to go

Got ante natal tomorrow so will see if i can have a mobile epidural, and haven't a clue how to write my birth plan so better ask really.
Will be packing etc at the weekend so hopefully that does something, as will be 38 weeks monday.

i wanted my dd to come a couple of weeks early as she was a big baby. i tried the lot, you name it i tried it, even twice. even the castor oil i tried twice and i was glued to the toilet all day.
dd was only going to come when she was ready, which was on the day i said she was coming, the doctor was 4 days before my day

try acupuncture - worked for me !

lucy5 · 17/03/2005 22:13

I had a takeaway curry and then went to the hairdressers and I was 12 days early. Probably coincidental.

MistressMary · 17/03/2005 22:15

pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, nipple tweaking, walking.
I was still ten days over though.

Acupuncture/Homeopathy
Can anyone give advice on which is the best to bring on labour please?
I am 39 weeks with my fourth and my previous three were all late.
I am so uncomfortable and just want this over with as quick as poss.
Tried sex and raspberry tea not worked as yet!

miranda2 · 18/03/2005 08:57

re the heartburn, I can't stand milk or gaviscon either but I've found the Tums (or own brand equivalent calcium carbonate tablets) help a lot - and they taste a bit like refreshers, not unpleasant at all.

JudeB · 18/03/2005 10:46

I've heard that walking up the stairs sideways is a good inductor! Probably stretches parts that otherwise wouldn't be stretched that way!!!

I'll be trying when I'm nearer the time but still got 5 weeks left to wait ..... and counting.....

Toothache · 18/03/2005 10:50

Gem1355 - SO sorry about my assumptions! That was incredibly insensitive of me. Ignore me.... I'm a numpty!

Laura032004 · 18/03/2005 10:59

I tried raspberry tea, running up and down hills with the dog, up and down stairs, curries morning, noon & night for a week (no lie - no wonder bf ds now gets ill when I have a curry ), lots of sex ( felt v.ashamed admitting that to aunts/mother who kept telling me to try it!), going to the hairdressers, lots of fresh pineapple and pineapple juice, had 2 sweeps.... ds was 2 wks & 5 days late! Was due to be induced after 2 weeks & 2 days, but was already in labour, it just took a while for him to arrive!

norash40 · 18/03/2005 13:46

rasberry tea is not supposed to bring on labour, it's supposed to make it 'easier'. If there is any such thing .

MrsDoolittle · 18/03/2005 14:22

This is a very long thread but this was us going through the saem thing last year April 2004 If you can't be bothered to read it all, we decided making carrot cake did it for us!!

Magic · 18/03/2005 14:26

Try the new soft chewy Rennies for the heartburn. I had heartburn for 4 days and it wouldn't ease. Within 1 hour of chewing a soft Rennie I felt better.
As for trying to induce labour....I reckon the baby will come when it wants to and not before. I tried everything to bring on my last labour as I wanted to avoid a hospital induction but nothing worked. Not even the hospital one!!Labour didn't start until 48 hours after induction. Babies are stubborn little things.
