I get terrible period pain but no pain birthing ds. No pain until he crowned and then I had a great big tear which stung a bit. I didn't have any contractions but my waters broke and midwife found that I was already a "stretchy" 10cm whatever that means. Hope for the same experience with this one. She called it a "silent labour"

...wasn't totally pain free, but started with a little, very low down "niggle" at 4pm, followed by much more intensecontractions at 4.15pm then getting midwife by throat at 4.30pm saying, rather hysterically "get me some f pain relief NOW" (didn't realise that I was already in transistion) checked out shortly afterwards only to be told in a rather too controlled midwife voice "don't push Mrs * the head is already there (wasn't even in the delivery room, was upstairs on the ward because waters had broken earlier and nothing had happened" had DS at 6.30pm, using gas and air only, most fantastic, incredible experience I've ever had in my life !!!!!

..hope so PG, there always seems to be so many bad stories (and people to have really traumatic birth experiences) sometimes you feel guilty having had such a fantastic experience. I can honestly say that I would give birth any daye of the week, I loved it (in a mashochistic sort of way !!)...pregnancy though, well that's another storey, puked up from 8 - 36 wks (had both babies at 36+6) Hope you have fab experience too ! Just to let you know my experience influenced me that much that I am now a birth doula and antenatal teacher !!!!!!

when I asked my mom when I was pg with DS she described the pain as "a bit of a niggle" . I wish I had her pain barrier!

my discomfort was pretty minor in the whole scheme of things, pretty much the way I wanted it, both times
I am lucky I guess, I never realy knew I was in labour til my body started pushing and I just went with it
I am looking fwd to number 3 if or whenever s'he comes!

On the sugject of (ahem) orgasmic birthings, I read about a woman who used her vibrator for painrelief during labour and had a rather long one (or many, I don't remember). I don't believe she needed any other, more conventional, pr at all.

I sort-of agree with Steppy1 - could do it again any day, only not quite, because I think I need the build-up to it of being pregnant. Childbirth hurt, but each time the moment I held that miracle in my arms I was ready to do it again. It's true what mum said - you do forget the pain.

vomited throughout my first labour. and had sciatic pain that the epidural wouldn't touch (until lay on that side when it was topped up)

john travolta is a scientologist btw paolosgirl, which is a sect and not a religion, iirc

Bundle, i vomitted throughout my labour as well, and had severe dirorreah, it was horrible.
Having said that i had no pain relief at all, which was my plan, and the only pain i found totaly unbearable was when dd's head was born. I would have been very tempted by drugs had i been in hospital for all of my labour as well but as it turned out i got there when i was 10cms dillated, and my labour pains had all but vanished for some reason!

I really hope to answer this question in approx 2wks with a resounding "yes, my third was completely pain free, just slipped out in the bath as I relaxed with a book"!

my labour was just like bad period pains. at the final stage the contractions were still 5-6 mins apart-was falling asleep inbetween them!

did try the gas and air tho, was bl**dy fantastic

I know I'm being horribly nosy, but why has the original posters message (and all subsequent ones also) been withdrawn?
