How exciting!

CvQ · 05/08/2008 23:24

get moving!

harpsichordcarrier · 05/08/2008 23:24

is this your first? how far apart are your contractions?
have your waters broken?
tbh I would say sleep or at least rest.

S1ur · 05/08/2008 23:24

Oh yes, you actually had a question.

I would try to sleep, (But I was never able to once I was awake and started). So I would try distraction.

Ooooh you goning to have a baby TONIGHT (or tomorrow !!!!!!! eeeeeek, how fabulous!

No 3rd !

They are about 5-6mins apart but only lasting 15-20 seconds. Only mildly unconfortable

Do you think you could sleep? And were your others fast? If fast, i would walk, if slow, i would sleep.

harpsichordcarrier · 05/08/2008 23:26

how quick were your previous labours? were they straightforward? do you know what position your baby is in?
unless there is a particular reason to keep moving (previous slow labouring, back to back baby etc), restrestrest I would say.

FoghornLeghorn · 05/08/2008 23:27

Baby is head down but not engaged, not back to back. 1st labour was 28 hrs, 2nd was 4

Oh well third, oh lovey bring out the big ball and bounce away. Shall we stroke your back or do you prefer not to be touched?

I would recommend maybe eating something like toast or something in case you don't feel like it later.

Are you homebirthing or hospital?

TheBlonde · 05/08/2008 23:27

sleep

Blu · 05/08/2008 23:29

well, the answer is 'stay on Mn' - obviously!!

S1ur · 05/08/2008 23:29

You are doing really well, is someone with you?

NorthernLurker · 05/08/2008 23:30

how exciting! I would say sleep as well. dd3 was born at 0239 and I couldn't sleep afterwards so i lost that night then the next night she just needed to feed and then i started to feel like i was beyond tired and would never sleep again.... sleep now if you can!

FoghornLeghorn · 05/08/2008 23:31

DH is alseep next to me. Think I am going to get up and bounce.
Hospital birth, MIL is coming to sit with girls, she is half hour away .... need to keep an eye on timings so know when to call her

S1ur · 05/08/2008 23:33

okey dokey doo.

Bounce away, we'll forgive typos.

want help timing contrations then?

Blu · 05/08/2008 23:33

Well, if you took 4 hours last time and cx are every 5 mins, shouldn't you be warning MIL to be on standby??
I mean, 5-6 mins is 5-6 mins!!

NorthernLurker · 05/08/2008 23:33

well don't focus too much on the length of the contractions - with dd3 they never got much beyond 40 seconds - 1 minute and I kept thinking that the two minute ones would hit like i'd had with dd2 - but they never did.

shirleyghostman · 05/08/2008 23:34

Do you know the sex? Gosh I feel all broody now!

Blu · 05/08/2008 23:36

Anyway, take no notice of me, I've only had one baby.
I'm just excited to tlk to somone in labour - well done you - and good luck.

liahgen · 05/08/2008 23:38

eat and drink something light.

keep weeing, have you lost anything yet? (sorry doula hat on)

S1ur · 05/08/2008 23:40

Ring MIL NOW. Because it isn't so awfully late as to be horribly impolite. Warn her, that she might need to come tonight or tomorrow, that way you can just send a quick text when you're sure.

Just how are you going to be sure?

I would usually say 5-6 mins good time to get calling

glasgowgal · 05/08/2008 23:40

Call MIL. Get going! Mine started like this and were 2 mins apart within 20 mins. You don't want to be panicking and bouncing all over a car when it gets worse.
