Braxton hicks or early labour?

First time mother and 36+1 weeks. Been experiencing Braxton hicks since lunch gradually getting stronger over the last hour and a half. Back ache in my lower back. Since afternoon my knickers have been wet but it's not a big gush or anything I can feel, I just keep getting damp through pads.

Could it be early labour or most likely just being pregnant towards the end? Any stories of similar which turned out to be early labour?

Sounds like it could be if the pains getting stronger combined with what could be your waters. My first was born at 36 weeks and my waters were leaking. Give the maternity unit a call.
