Recovery after a fourth degree tear and returning to sex

Just wanted to post this message in case anyone has had a similar experience & is struggling. 4th degree tear in 2023, thankfully it healed well but had general dryness & discomfort for a good 6 months after. Stopped breastfeeding @6m but I also have a prolactinoma so periods didn't return until I got back on the meds soon after DC turned 1. The medication is a dopamine agonist but this time it didn't increase my libido, i was even too scared to even look down there for another 6m!!
First attempts at sex were almost 2y on from the birth but insertion just wasn't possible T_T. I had really lost hope at this point, gynae said vag entrance was sown up a bit too tight & suggested Fentons procedure. I wasn't keen so DP got me some dilators which I would HIGHLY recommend, took aaages as with a child & work I just didn't have much me time but finally managed to progress to the largest size where initially more than 1 finger couldn't be inserted! (Un)fortunately DP is even larger than the largest dilator so sex was still a struggle but finally around 2.5ypp (yes that long) things started to work again.

Just wanted to put this out there in case any1 else had faced similar issues, a 4th degree really is quite serious & I'm so so glad that it's healed ok but all that scar tissue meant healing and getting back to sex took ages. While others seemed to be getting their mojos back I felt like a "born-again" virgin 😭 I guess if I had "tried" more to fix things earlier or gone straight for the Fentons op it might have taken less time but I just want to give someone out there hope that things can get back to normal, all you need is time, patience and a very patient DP!!
