Third pregnancy after retained placenta twice: options for labour or caesarean

I have just found out that I’m pregnant with my 3rd which I am really excited about. Now feeling the apprehension set in about child birth. My previous two labours have ended with retained placenta and I have had to go into theatre for a manual removal. I really don’t want this to happen again. Has anyone else experienced the same with their births and then not had a retained placenta the third time round? Or opted for an elected c-section? Just trying to weigh up my options!

I had theatre for retained placenta with my first, second did it's thing perfectly and by the third they just hoicked it out in the delivery suite because I had an epidural, so perhaps opting for an epidural might be the way forward for you? They topped mine up and got on with it. I much prefer that than having had a c section personally but it might not suit you.

Also I realise now I am approx two decades out of date so may be spouting nonsense. How the heck did so much time pass.

I might sound bonkers but the placenta felt like the worst bit 😮 It was so weird and I didn't like it AT ALL. I think you should just take medical advice on what is the safest and hopefully least worrying/uncertain option.
