Giving birth in Watford - Hertfordshire, England

Hi there,

I have registered my pregnancy, to give birth at Watford General Hospital early 2026 however I am nervous about this due to bad reviews that I’ve seen online.

Does anybody have any experience having given birth here in the last few years?

I would really like the opportunity to have a water birth, is it still true that these are quite often not available due to staff shortages?

I've given birth there in 2020, and 2022. I've been to the birthing centre both times and I had lovely experiences (also had uncomplicated births so that probably plays a part in my opinion of it). The midwives were lovely. I'm about to give birth to my third there too, I'll update once I've been if you want!

I was birth partner for a friend there. They were kind and attentive and all went well.
