Has anyone recently given birth at the BRI who can share what it's like? I'm booking in at the LGI but completely freaking out following the news it's been downgraded to inadequate yesterday. BRI doesn't have the best reports but better than Leeds! Thanks in advance

I’m not sure where you are @YourBlueDuckso could be a bit far but have the thought about Harrogate or Airedale as well? I have no experience of BRI but know people who have delivered there, no issues at all. I’ve always like the idea BRI has a whole separate building for maternity services. I had my first baby at Airedale and I’m due baby no.2 and will be doing Airedale again, purely because it is slightly nearer than BRI (only just) and have no issues to report. Again I also have friends who have delivered at Harrogate and had no issues either. Just thinking about other potential options for you!

@YourBlueDuckI gave birth at BRI in 2020. I didn’t have a great experience on the induction ward, but can’t fault the rest of it. I’m 33 weeks pregnant and due to give birth at BRI again soon and I’m not worried. All the care I’ve had so far has been great. That said, other people I know have had bad experiences, others have had great ones.

Same with LGI though I think - on a fb post about their recent rating for every person saying they had a bad experience, 5 other women said they’d been amazing. A friend of mine had all 3 of her children there and thinks they’re great. I think the issue is that across the whole country maternity services need improving.

I also considered Airedale, but their maternity service is also rated “requires improvement” and honestly I just think they’re all a much of a muchness.

Hi, not sure if this is too late for you - if so I hope it helps someone else! I gave birth a week ago at LGI (planned c section) and it could not have been more positive. The birth and the postnatal care was amazing - I actually left reviews for both teams and sent cards.
