New Great Western Hospital, Swindon

Hi, I'm new to the board. In the last few weeks I've moved to Wiltshire from London AND found out I'm pregnant! And while trying to research my hospital/birth choices, I've discovered that the Great Western Hospital (my closest) is brand new, only opened in November, and so there is zero information that I can find about it. I know its is a slim chance, but has anyone on here had any dealings with the new hospital since it opened 2 months ago? births, antenatal care, paediatrics care? Or is there anyone local who can tell me what the local opinion is about it (if any) yet?
Many thanks. Had my last 2 births in the C&Westminster in London, where I was very happy with the care, so a bit nervous about stepping into the unknown....

Hi wiltshirelass. I live near Cirencester, so not so far away, but sorry don't know anything about the new Swindon hospital. I did visit the old Princess Margaret Hospital maternity ward in Swindon, which seemed OK, but the general opinion locally is that Cheltenham General, where I had my two, is better. Sorry, not much help for you, but generally I think that health care round here is pretty good. We moved from London too and I started antenatal care there - I definitely found the care here was better and more personal. Probably because there are fewer people! Good luck!

Thanks Caroline - it's reassuring to know you think healthcare here is good. I haven't met anyone yet who has had much good to say about the old Princess Margaret yet (nothing hugely negative, but a bit like you "it was OK" which makes me suspect that the great western won't be much different. Cheltenham is miles away from me I'm afraid!
Thinking of having it at home, which is a bit radical since I had two extremely lovely epidurals with my last two!!
