Too much blood after a stretch and sweep? (TMI image warning)

Hi. Had a stretch and sweep at about 2.30pm. Just changed the pad and it looks like this. Is this took much blood? Should I call the hospital? Sorry about TMI image.

Can’t see the pic but is it mucusy? It could be your bloody show but absolutely seek advice.

Yes sorry it says it’s still under review! It isn’t mucusy really. Just red blood. Have changed pad so will see if it was just a lot of blood from initial procedure and then hopefully it’ll calm down from here or whether it’s still coming out bright red.

Personally I would call to check that that’s ok.

WhatMe123 · 12/05/2025 17:10

I was like that after mine and went into labour shortly after. I was also bleeding quite a lot with dd2 in labour and the midwives didn't even bat an eye when I showed them my pad. I assume it's worked op any cramps?

Bunnyisputbackinthebox · 12/05/2025 17:11

Mucus plug should be just that. Mucus will blood tinge. That's blood and needs checking out op. Never a wasted call to your midwife...

doodleschnoodle · 12/05/2025 17:12

I would definitely call about that.

BTW I have had 10 natural births... Not trying to be a Know It All!!

Always get things checked. 99% of the time it’s nothing but always check

postmanshere · 12/05/2025 17:34

Called MAU and they just said monitor the situation for now because they know the cause for the bleeding, they’re not too worried.

That's definitely too much for a sweep and imo ballsy to give that advice over the phone without seeing you. Obviously all signs point to it being the sweep, but they do not know that definitively. If you're still bleeding I would go in.

notanormalday · 12/05/2025 18:27

I had a sweep and lost like discharge blood but it wasn’t my mucus plug. I didn’t have anything like this. I would call again or even say you’ve lost more blood so they actually take notice of you. Good luck 🤞

TheQuietestSpace · 12/05/2025 18:56

You need to go in for that. Don't allow triage to bat you away over the phone. That's far too much for a stretch and sweep.

EarlGreywithLemon · 12/05/2025 21:23

I would also go in. I don’t want to scare you but I had bleeding in labour and it was a sign of more serious issues. Thankfully all was well because it was caught early. Please don’t take any chances!
