Not ideal conditions for labour. Anyone else days away from meeting new baby?

I’m due Tuesday. And have just come down with a flu-like cold, which I hadn’t banked on, with the weather warming up. Haven’t been able to sleep much tonight, been awake since midnight due to sore throat and inability to breathe properly due to bunged up
nose and throbbing headache.

Boiler also broke last night so no hot water in the house.

So excited for baby to arrive but mindful that she’ll probably come down with a cold immediately after birth too now and that we won’t be able to give her a warm bath without boiling the kettle… poor toddler is also coming down with the same cold so we’ll be dealing with double trouble throughout those newborn nights.

Can’t wait! (Needed to vent my bad luck)

Oh no! I’ve just had a cold but luckily it had cleared up about 4 days before baby arrived. Hopefully your body will wait a little bit til it’s relaxed and recovered first before labour kicks in.

wishing you tons of luck!!

A cold is usually starting to get better by four days in. Do you live with your partner/husband? They need to be getting someone in to fix the boiler. Unless you’re booked in for a C section a due date rarely happens on the actual day.

2 days before my due date we had a plumbing emergency which meant no water upstairs at all (toilet, shower, bath) and half the kitchen ceiling being removed....all caused by dh. Somehow he managed to fix it all before I went into labour.

For tomorrow night can you get some albas oil or the new version of karvol to help with breathing? Good luck, fingers crossed baby givess you a few more days to recover. Also re baby catching the cold, if you can manage to bf or express a little colostrum and breastmilk then that should protect baby from the cold.
