Luton & Dunstable or Milton Keynes Hospital

Hi all
I'm so confused and don't know what to do. Luton & Dunstable Hospital has been rated as 'Inadequate' for maternity and everybody around me keeps saying it's fine but worried. Milton Keynes Hospital is rated Good and the report is very good but don't have any feedback. Does anybody have any recent experience? Thank you so much

OK, my experience isn't recent so probably not much use to you, but what I will say is that when expecting my third DS I went on a maternity unit tour of the L&D as we'd just moved to the area.

The result of that visit was that I chose to have a home birth. I couldn't bear the thought of giving birth there.

Anybody I knew at the time who went to MK thought it was fine.

Milton Keynes had issues a few years ago with inadequate care and from what I’ve heard hasn’t improved much since. The L&D is fine, like not amazing as I so often hear people describe their maternity services but it’s adequate and I think their latest CQC rating applies to Bedford also so not sure how much applies to one over the other. I’m having my second there as it’s our nearest hospital and it’s been fine so far.

I had a very good experience at L&D earlier this month with my first. ELCS and staff were very kind and felt like we got decent care despite them being very busy.

Where are you based? If you can get to Bedford, I think they had better ratings if I remember correctly.

I had a great experience at L&D 2 years ago and have registered there for my second. They have much better facilities for premature births. MK is rated better yes but until recently did not have a good reputation
