We had a delivery in the VS household last night.
My cat had kittens, unfortunately two were dead, but we are now proud parents to a little ginger marmaduke.

kayzisexpecting · 28/04/2008 11:06

Awww VS sorry about the 2 kittens. I bet little Marmaduke is gorgeous!!!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 28/04/2008 11:07

oh VS, what a shame about the dead two, but congrats on the surviving one

Lulu - sorry to hear about your Grandma

VS - sorry about your kittens too....

So yeah, as you heard, my waters were broken 'accidentally' on Thursday morning at my 41 week check up! The consultant was about to discuss induction with us and was giving me a sweep - she said I was 3cm dilated so all that really needed to happen was for my waters to break. So I asked if she could not just break them now and she (almost literally)clicked her fingers and said 'oh look, your waters have just broken. Labour ward for you my girl...'

We were sent to labour ward at 10.45 and basically sat for 12 hours until a delivery suite became free (v busy day in Sheff last Thursday apparently). About 11pm they started me on the induction drugs and I managed 4 hours on gas and air (bloody good stuff I have to say) but was in total agony by 3am when they checked me again. I was distraught to find I was only 4 cm to had an epidural. 8 hours later they said I could start to push, which I did for an hour and a half but with no feeling from the boobs down it was bloody hard work. Eventually the MW went to get the registrar to examine me. She took one look and said, this baby is in the wrong position, you need a c-section. 20 minutes later at 14.56 Amelie was out!

So a but traumatic but totally worth it in the end (oh and DH enjoyed the gas and air too - daft chuff)

Discharged last night after 2 days which was brilliant so can't stop from ear to ear.

Oh, and Amelie latched on wihtin 5 minutes of being born and is feeding like a pro. Milk is ocming in so everything seems to be in working order!

Thanks for all the well wishes and sorry this is a long one!

VictorianSqualor · 28/04/2008 16:38

Great DondDonds, I'm really pleased for you, this seems to be the thread for successful feding too!
Maybe all these babies making us wait are just practising their suck

My sweep was not a sweep cos my cervix is a stubborn fecking cervix which is pointing the wrong way and still long and uneffaced and UN everything it needs to be!!! RAHHH Booked in to be 'gelled' on Sunday night, even that might not be enough for my lazy baby!

funny he doesn't seem to think I'm sexy after all that!! ha ha

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 06:36

Thats so unfair Nosnik!! I think your baby is so comfy in there he/she doesn't want to come out.

MerlinsBeard · 29/04/2008 10:08

Hi. I've been lurking on this thread on and off, but feel I can join now I am officially overdue. (40+3). Had some weird feelings / contractions last night, but might just have been a subconscious attempt to get out of making dinner , as they passed as soon as i was comfortably snuggled up on sofa rather than in the kitchen ...
Sweep booked for tomorrow. off to get some RL tea...

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 11:28

Hello Sagitta.

bobsmum · 29/04/2008 11:34

Hellooooooooo

I might be next!

Massive gunky show this morning and lovely, big contractions every 10 mins. Quite enjoying this so far unlike the previous 2 times!!

DD has bad ear infection - just back from GPs, but nipped into see m/w while I was there. Everything fine and happy baby but grumpy dd

Dh coming home from work in Edinburgh (couple of hours away).

Godd vibes for nice uncomplicated second VBAC much appreciated. Have nice cookies to soften up midwives

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 11:36

YAY!! I am getting so impatient already and I'm not due until the 14th december.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 11:37

What the F* is a BVAC?????

Someone please explain why my fingers don't type what I am thinking?

bobsmum · 29/04/2008 11:49

God - no - don't want a BVAC - that sounds horrendous

A nice VBAC will be fine!

sagitta · 29/04/2008 11:49

Thanks for RL tea. Starting to get a bit bored now. It's raining too hard for a walk, can't have sex until DH comes home, and ate curry on Sunday and Monday. What else can I do?
