I am 36 weeks pregnant and today whilst out for lunch I found a huuuuge long "worm-like" jelly thing in my knickers.

Clear/ white and about 3 inches long.... it was big! And now just had another blob of jelly in my knickers.

Does this mean labour is imminent?

Tell me your experiences xx

I didn't realise it at the time as my first was an emergency c-section but I lost what must have been the plug with baby number 2 around 5am. Baby born 9.25pm.

Good luck!

Not for me but yes for my friend x

Cruiso · 30/08/2024 20:05

Yes with my first!

Lost the mucas plug a couple of days before 38 wks. Waters then broke in early hours of the morning at 38 wks and labour started soon after.

Keep us posted!

Lost my mucus plug the day after a gel pessary got me to 2cm at 37+2. Labour was not imminent. Nary a sniff of a contraction until the drip was put up 3 days later.

With my first I lost my plug multiple times throughout the pregnancy.

Flittingaboutagain · 30/08/2024 20:12

I lost my plug five days before my waters broke so might be a term baby after all. I never noticed losing a plug at all the second time. So who knows!

Caffeineneedednow · 30/08/2024 20:13

Lost my plug a few times from 32ish weeks. Turns out it can grow back.
My son was born via emergency c section at 42 weeks after a failed induction.

romdowa · 30/08/2024 20:14

I lost mine at 34 weeks and the hospital said it was fine because they grow back. As long as there was no blood in the mucus then they said not to worry

Yes from my experience. Lost my mucus plug - 36 hours later DS was born. I was full term. Good luck OP!

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 30/08/2024 20:27

Lost mine the day before I went into labour but I know a couple of women who lost theirs around 4/5 days before!

Oh my goodness lots of these replies are getting me excited/ nervous!

I'm slightly panicking as still need to sort few things (putting cot up etc)

Both times: lost my mucus plug, contractions started, waters broke all the space of 2 mins, baby delivered by c section 7 hours later.

Good luck!

MixedCouple2 · 30/08/2024 21:30

DS1 lost MC at 38w6d 5 days later DS was born.
DS2 lost MC at 40w DS born 2 weeks later.

So nope it says your body gearing up but not the time frame at all.
