Am sure that this time I'll just be going to make a drink and "ooh! The baby's here! Get a clean towel darling"

I'm right, aren't I?

btw, have u had a scan yet?

harleyd · 08/04/2008 15:26

11 mins start to finish
so yeah, they just plop out

collision · 08/04/2008 15:27

Definitely.

My SIL has just had her third and knew she would sneeze and there would be her clean tiny baby wrapped in a towel....

.....the reality was a 10lb 10oz heifer and a 2 hour surgery afterwards.....surgeon told DB that it was like trying to sew an onion back together!!!!

You will be fine!

spugs · 08/04/2008 15:48

mine didnt, first two labours were fine. waters went during transition had g&a and bit of pethidine. both fairly similr though dd2 much quicker. dd3 waters went before labour started, contractions stopped and started. eventually got regular and agonising so went to hospital and was only 2/3 cms. checked 2 hrs later and no change so decided to go ahead with induction (was booked to have it in the morning). had epidural at same time. got to 10cms and contractions stopped, no amount of synt would get them going again. tried pushing with no contractions for an hour and she wouldnt budge so ended up in theatre with ventouse. prob mostly my own fault for having epi. but would still have been very different even without that.

scorpio1 · 08/04/2008 15:49

3rd was definately quickest for me but hate to say the most painful.

ds1 - natural labour 10hrs, 7lb 6oz
ds2 - natural labour 5hrs, 7lb 13oz
dd - natural labour,HB, 3hrs, 9lb 4oz

That's all from 1st twinge.

I'll be walking down the road and this one's just going to drop out. Think I'll steal the trousers in socks idea

Gawd knows how big this one is going to be.......

MarsLady · 09/04/2008 13:08

Yes! She was my easiest birth but I think it's because my mw behaved like a doula. She gave me confidence in my ability to birth when everyone else was saying it was a huge baby and I would need a c-birth.

MamaG · 09/04/2008 13:10

Hurrah for the ploppers

Finished lovely childfree lunch at 2pm in lovely childfree restaurant in town. Was dropped off at hospital had waters broken at just after 2.30pm ds2 (9lb 7oz) born 4.04pm. Was home for fish and chips by 9pm. (Can you tell I'm now on a diet seem to be judging whole life by food!) - 7 months later he is still as easy, long may it last!

DD 18 hours, ds1 8 hours (10lb & induced).

Good luck for your number 3's - you'll be fine, the main difference for the birth of mine was I was confident enough to say what I wanted.

MamaG · 09/04/2008 13:46

I'm actually feeling great about this labour (which is 30 weeks away - much more relaxed than the other two. I've accepted taht I'll probablyu be induced and I know I can do it!

I'll panic like HELL if I go into labour without being induced though

My 3rd was a relative plop. Compared to the other two. A mere 5 hours and no tears or stitches. Not exactly speedy, nor painless, even so. I view it as the least bad of the 3. Still nothing good about it.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 09/04/2008 13:50

Mine was more of a whoosh than a plop

Biggest of the three at 10lb and around 2 hours from vague twinge to arrival.

Ceolas · 09/04/2008 13:50

I'm sure he would have if he hadn't been 10lbs

Nah, it wasn't that bad really. I had a fourth last year to prove it!

misdee · 09/04/2008 15:39

mamg,. this is my 4th, so i'm sure my plopping wil lbe easier lol.

if i develope gestional diabetes again, i will be induced approx 2 weeks early.

whomovedmychocolate · 09/04/2008 21:17

No bloody idea, I'm only on number 2 but if it's any help. I'm the fourth child and my mum thought she had indigestion and was in the lift at the hospital going down to the shop to buy mints, when her waters went. The nurse took her straight up to delivery, she lay down and I literally shot out like a cannonball without her even being aware the the birth was imminent. Then my mum vomited her lunch over me.

LilyMunster · 09/04/2008 21:19

yes mamaG, you are right.
3rd babies shoot out like bullets from guns.
