Yes you are right. Unless your third did what mine did and decide to make his grand entrance bottom first. That should have set alarm bells off for me...he's been a pest ever since!

Mine was induced and despite all the head-shaking and "oh you'll be here til tomorrow night" from midwife and obstetrician when I asked how long it would take, my labour start to finish lasted less than 3 hours. No pain relief either.

My 2nd plopped out but i think dd3 was holding on inside refusing to come out

Hatrick that's interesting - my third was pretty much identical to my second as well. I had been hoping (and fearing) for one of those 30 minute jobs - but we had a perfectly reasonable 8-10 hours (depending on when you count from) To be fair to dd3 - i think she would have arrived a good 2 hours before she did had my waters actually broken - but they were annoyingly stubborn about going. When they went - she shot out!

No, DS2 did but DS3 weighed 10lbs 15ozs and he definately did not just plop out.

Have you seen the bit in Python's Meaning of Life with the poor family and the hundreds of kids? It's just like that

my second came out without me pushing - had involuntary pushes and there he was. 8lbs 1oz. I did have a fair few stitches though but not compared to the first who tore me to shreds! (3rd degree tear)

If 40 mins is considered plopping then yes . Go out for breakfast, go to the hairdresser, the library, have the baby! Easy peasy.
