If you had a VBAC, when did you go into spontaneous labour?

I'm 38 weeks with my second and hoping for a VBAC. If you had a VBAC, when did you go into spontaneous labour?

I know everyone is different but humour my focus group!

It’s now over 16 years ago but FWIW I was 40+6 when I went into spontaneous labour for my VBAC.

First birth (Caesarean) was an induction process that started (eventually) on my due date but DS was delivered two days later.

WhamBamThankU · 12/06/2024 15:47

11 days overdue and had a sweep followed by sex.

Killerqueenie · 12/06/2024 15:48

I was hoping for a vbac and went into spontaneous labour at 38+1 but it unfortunately ended in another emergency section at 38+3.

Sunnysummer24 · 12/06/2024 15:50

First was 41 weeks spontaneous labour and my second which was a VBAC was 38+ 1 but I did lots of recommended and one not recommended to start labour.

BananaHammock23 · 12/06/2024 15:55

What was the not recommended @Sunnysummer24 😂

I know it's silly, but DS's birthday is 15 days after my due date, so I'd love to not go over too much to avoid birthdays too close together. They will have a 4 year age gap so I feel like it's going to be inconvenient until they're 18 and 22!

Clary sage oil.

BananaHammock23 · 12/06/2024 16:31

I didn't realise clary sage oil wasn't recommended, I see it on a lot of lists! How did you use it? @Sunnysummer24

Emergency section with first dd

And with second at 38 weeks when waters broke naturally.

It isn’t recommended until you’re in labour because it can start contractions. I put some in my bath every night. It’s not a sensible plan.

40+ 6 but another emc x

Goneback2school · 15/06/2024 18:17

39 weeks iirc. Waters went and proceeded to have quite a quick natural birth.

Okayornot · 15/06/2024 18:25

I was bang on my due date.

VBAC ended up as another section but the labour was actually quite good (much more in control than the previous time).

Doghairdoishare · 15/06/2024 18:27

40+6

Hadalifeonce · 15/06/2024 18:30

37.5 weeks

NewtGuineaPig · 15/06/2024 18:33

42+5 and born 43 weeks.

NewtGuineaPig · 15/06/2024 18:33

Was supposed to be VBAC/HBAC but did end up another section.

OtterAnimagus · 15/06/2024 18:35

Spontaneous labour started evening of 40 plus 4. Went to hospital 7am of 40 plus 5 just under 2 hours later baby in arms.
40 plus 5 was due date based on dates, got brought forward at 12 week scan.

Pipsquiggle · 15/06/2024 18:43

Around 38 weeks.

I went into labour a few hours after holding other babies at a Christening. This also happened with my DC1

BananaHammock23 · 16/06/2024 21:06

Ahh I can't stand the waiting game! Im such a control freak and I'm struggling with not knowing whether we'll have a baby in 4 hours or 4 weeks!

How is it going? 37W with VBAC ambitions myself

JJM13 · 02/07/2024 17:49

I’ve got first sweep tomorrow at 37+1 i’ve got until 38+3 to try for vbac , no idea if i’ll get a chance at labour

BananaHammock23 · 03/07/2024 15:55

@Outliers unfortunately I didn't get my VBAC but very at peace with what happened. Baby was showing signs of distress and we decided to deliver via c section, when we did we found that my uterus had already started to rupture from the old c section scar. So wasn't meant to be for me!
