Are there any mums out there that would be willing to chat to me about their experience under the care of The Stanley Clayton ward?
I'm 31 weeks and have been seeing my lovely consultant privately at Queen Charlottes Hospital. Me and my husband had our first midwife appointment yesterday with the Stanley Clayton Ward and we were super disappointed and concerned really. It was a tick box appointment but the bedside manner of the midwife was appalling and when I asked about how it works she gave the information up freely that they are trying to recruit midwives and many are leaving. This made us feel like it might be a shitshow.
The main reason I opted to go private was continuity and consistency of care. I have had some traumatic situations surrounding pregnancy in the past that have made me want familiarity. But what am I paying £7.5k for if this is the care you receive privately?
Originally I completely disregarded The Portland Hospital because of the less sophisticated NICU, but now I am thinking it could a better option even with the elevated risks. Can anyone give their experience at the Portland?
I am hoping for a vaginal birth, I'm 24, low risk pregnancy. I didn't like the Lindo Wing because there is no pool option there. Would love to have the courage for a home birth but I'm too frightened and it's late to find and Independent Midwife as well as having paid my obstetrician already.
Any advice from mothers who have birthed at QC or The Portland would be so appreciated!
