Can pregnancy TENS machines be used as regular TENS machines afterwards.

Hi, my partner is giving birth at the end of April and we are trying to make a decision on if we should buy or rent a TENS machine. We know she will need a pregnancy specific one for the birth but aside from the boost button and the bigger pads (which I understand can be swapped out for smaller ones if you find ones with the correct connector) are there any differences with regular TENS machines? Better yet, if anyone on here has actually used a pregnancy TENS machine for non-pregnancy pain, can you let me know it it worked well?

Unless either of you have regular pain which you know will helped with the TENS then I would just rent one.

She was thinking of using it for period pain afterwards, but of course that might not be as much of an issue as it was before. Renting and then buying after would be the worst of both worlds.

Maybe a 2nd hand one off eBay and a fresh set of pads might be the way forward?

Best thing I did for period pain was to BF. Periods didn't return for 18 months each!

In case anyone stumbles across this, I found out: yes, some pregnancy TENS machines can be used for non-pregnancy pain. Read the box of the machine you're considering buying, it'll probably clarify there if you can use it for other pain or not. You might want to buy smaller pads than the ones it came with, for more targeted pain relief.
