If your first 2 babies were born at 41+ weeks, when did your 3rd arrive?

Just musing about when I can expect baby number 3 to turn up... of course it's very much a case of "whenever it happens", however I'm clinging to a little hope that I won't follow my usual pattern, as this pregnancy has been harder than the previous two and therefore I really don't want to go overdue!

Baby 1 - 41+4
Baby 2 - 41+5
Baby 3 - ?!

My midwife thinks I'll follow the same pattern and go overdue again, but she did say that, purely anecdotally/in her experience, being a different sex sometimes seems to be a factor (my two previous babies were boys, this baby is a girl)...

If you experienced two overdue babies, when was your third born?

Mine were all 40+6. First two were girls and the third was a boy. I didn’t even pack my hospital bag in advance as I was expecting him on 40+6!

Baby 1 - 41+3, 7lbs 12oz, GD but not induced
Baby 2 - 42+1, 7lbs 9oz, no GD
Baby 3 - 38 weeks, 8lbs, no GD

Mine were all born bang on 41 weeks.

Do your trust still induce at 42 weeks or have you refused induction? My trust said the guidelines for induction are now no later than 41 weeks.

Mamoun · 20/04/2024 06:16

Me:

41+4 induced
41+3 induced
41+5 natural labour.

Good luck

Mystro202 · 20/04/2024 06:29

40+10
40+5
40+14
40+4

All overdue! Two induced and two spontaneous. All straight forward, vaginal births & healthy babies.

My trust recommend induction at 41 weeks in line with the new national guidelines... however I'm under the home birth team who simply make sure you're well informed but are very respectful of wishes and are a little less "medicalised"/pushy in opinion.

Given that my previous babies were also late with no complications I'm happy to just go with the flow as I simply seem to have a longer gestational period than others!

Having said that, I do have a scan booked for 41+6 to check everything looks OK, alongside an appointment with a specialist midwife, which I will be attending. If anything looks untoward at that point, I'll opt for induction. Hopefully baby will have come before then in any case (although might be a little while yet... I asked for an examination yesterday with the potential of a sweep if my cervix looked "favourable" and it wasnt dilated at all... then again it can all change pretty quickly)!

Totally understand, was just being nosey really.. seeing all the >41 weeks comments I wondered if not every trust did the same thing!

No... I'm just a stubborn "induction refuser" (at this current point in time, anyway)! 😁

Both excited and a little frustrated if I'm honest... 🤣 I was really hoping I wouldn't follow the same pattern, but here I am! 🤷‍♀️

On the plus side, now I'm over 41 weeks im almost guaranteed to have baby in the next 7 days, so there's light at the end of the tunnel... 🙂 Just going to try to rest and relax and stop doing stuff now... (the urge to nest is strong 🤣)

1: 42wks induced
2: 41+3 spontaneous
3: 42wks induced
4: 40wks induced due to large predicted size
5: 41wks induced “early” because I was 42yrs old. This was 2021, I have no idea why OU hospitals induced much later than guidance. They said they would induce between 40-41 (not before) but the earliest date was 41 on the dot.

Poppins2016 · 25/04/2024 09:13

Just to update, my third little pickle finally arrived in the early hours today at 41+6. Looks as though long gestation periods are standard for me!

older 3 were spontaneous, 4 was elcs, 5 was a failed induction leading to emergency c-section.
