How long did you wait to have your waters broken?

Currently been on the induction suite for 24 hours being told I'm able to have my waters broken. I didn't need a pessary or gel as I was 1.5cm when I arrived yesterday morning. Since being here, the labour ward has been packed and we've been pushed back and back on the list. I'm really starting to get upset as we have a little one at home and we're just stuck in a ward bay being told absolutely nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? And how long did you end up waiting?

It varies
I've been induced 5 times.
Final time they put me on a monitor for 30mins then broke my waters then gave me 2hrs to start contracting before putting me on the drip.
All the other times it was the pessary and waiting around for aggesss. 1st time I went in 8am and had baby at 5am next day, 2nd similar but 3am. 3rd time it was 11pm on the 2nd day of being there(OH hung around just in case so neither of us got much sleep!), 4th was even longer I was in so much pain and they still didn't come get me for 31hours!! Everyone else in my room was in earlier stages and I didnt want to scare them so was trying to hold it all in.
I've never gone into labour naturally, fairly sure all my waters were popped for me.
Hopefully you've already had it done and read this with baby in your arms. Good luck for the delivery 👍

Doesn't sound like you need to be induced really. If it was an emergency they'd offer you a c-section or would have done it already. Personally, I'd decline and go home!

I feel your pain OP, hope you don’t have to wait too much longer.

I went in on a Friday and my waters were ready to be broken on Saturday night but didn’t get taken to the delivery suite until midday Tuesday and DD was born that night. So I think I waited over 60 hours.

Had an awful few days due to no sleep and limited pain relief. And I was being induced due to reduced movements.

Thank you everyone, currently still waiting and it's been 50 hours. You'd think I'd be there by now 😭 we've been here this long already so just going to wait it out or we'll end up kicking ourselves for getting that far and then going home.

Pessary 10am Friday, admitted 10pm Friday, waters not broken 1pm Monday! Baby was born 10:30pm Monday. So much waiting around, and I had a little one at home too. But it was very busy and a weekend, plus I was being induced for being overdue rather than anything wrong so basically anyone with a problem went ahead of me, which I understood. Albeit it was still pretty frustrating being stuck somewhere noisy, hot and uncomfortable less than five minutes' drive from home! Really hope you get seen soon and baby is here quickly and safely.

Now on delivery unit and waters broken! Thank you everyone 🫶🏻

Dyra · 05/03/2024 00:32

Hurray! I hope things are well underway now, and it won't be long until you're holding your baby.

GodspeedJune · 05/03/2024 00:47

Good luck. Hope you’re either cuddling your newborn or will be very soon.

TeaPleaseX · 05/03/2024 00:56

Ooh wishing you all the best. Hopefully they are here soon!x

JaneKatSuttonGoals · 05/03/2024 01:06

Good luck!
56 hours with dd2 - and only then i think because I cried asked to see consultant and pointed out they were the ones that wanted me to give birth at 38 weeks latest so presumably they were now endangering my child at nearly 38+3

scat123 · 05/03/2024 13:42

Yay!!! Congratulations!! Enjoy the newborn snuggles!

Dyra · 05/03/2024 15:22

Huge congratulations! That was extremely fast! How heavy was she in the end? Same time my little boy was born as well. :3

Mushroo · 05/03/2024 15:24

When I was in over Xmas it was a three day wait which was ridiculous. They started transferring people to other local hospitals.

Luckily mine went on their own in the end, as I don’t think I’d have coped waiting that long having already been there 2 days having pessaries.

Good luck!

Mushroo · 05/03/2024 15:25

Oh just seen the update!! Congrats!!

Chanhedforthis · 05/03/2024 15:30

This is what happened to me had to wait over 2 days even though they kept telling me I was top of the list because I was so high risk, really high bp but what I will say once my waters were broken, baby was here within 3 hours! Literally went into labour 20 mins after waters were broken!
