Preterm labour, cerclage in place and waters have broken x

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone’s been in the same position.

I’m 33 weeks 3 days pregnant.
Cerclage placed at 20 weeks after funnelling being observed on my scan.

Iv been admitted to hospital - this was following me wakening up yesterday morning to find spots of water on my bedsheet and pressure within my pelvic area. I went to triage who completed the pre term labour and amniotic fluid tests (don’t remember professional name) and they both came back positive. I was reviewed by one of the senior doctors via speculum/scan and she could see baby’s head pressure down right at the entrance of my cervix. It was decided that my cerclage be removed and I be admitted to the labour ward. Iv had numerous mild contractions/tightenings throughout the day into the early hours of this morning, constant need to urinate, waters continue to leak slowly and my pains being maintained on paracetamol and dihydrocodeine .. iv just received some morphine half an hour ago due to some intermittent shooting pain up inside my vagina, being unable to sleep and feeling really unsettled/uncomfortable.. iv also received steroids for baby’s lungs and two lots of IV anti biotics as I have strep B.

Labour doesn’t appear to be progressing anywhere tbh. Has this ever happened to someone before and what was the outcome?

Thanks xx

I didn't have cerclage but my waters broke unexpectedly at 33+5 and DD1 arrived less than 24h after that. She was in NICU for a few weeks to get feeding established which was hard going but she was absolutely fine in the end and is now a healthy teenager, almost as tall as me. I know the situation must be worrying but you're in the best place to get the care you both need (and I remember the steroid injections being horrible so at least you've got that bit over with!) Good luck with everything, I hope it goes well.

No Cerclage for me but my waters broke at 33+6. no contractions but some cramping for about 48 hours. monitored. didn't have steroids as i am diabetic and was worried about the impact of my sugar levels when i was borderline needing them, then at 3am contractions started thick and fast - none of this early labour thing. went from 0 to 100 very fast. she was here by 7am, weighing at 4lb 11oz. She spent 1 hour in the NICU. APGAR scores of 10, breathing and fed (and peed on me) straight away on her own. Came home 4 days later. she's two now and the brightest, funniest and most energetic child you've ever met

Hi love

You're going to be fine..
33 weeks is great and you're in the best of places.

I had an attempt at a cerclate at 19 weeks but those were completely different circumstances.

Even if your baby is putting pressure they may change positions and you'll be ok.

Drink lots of water

Best wishes for you both x
