Anyone not had an induction when recommended one for a big baby?

I’m 35 weeks and according to scan my baby is on the 97th percentile.

I’ve got another scan booked for 38 weeks and they have said unless the growth slows they will discuss inducing early. Purely due to size - no other concerns to baby’s health or mine have been mentioned.

I am a little sceptical as my first baby was consistently 90th percentile on scans but less than 50th percentile when born. (vaginal birth, born overdue with no induction).

Interested in hearing from women who accepted an induction for a suspected big baby, and those who didn’t.

I was given the option, but said no. It was my second baby-my first was bigger than average and nobody could give me any reason why there should be a problem. It was fine, by the way. 4 hour labour in total. 10lb 6.

I was potentially being advised to have a c-section, my baby was SO BIG. Waters broke at 38+4 so I had to be induced for that reason, and he came out entirely average. I know scan measurements are not always accurate, but they were wildly wrong in my case.

I declined an induction due to predicted size. DS2 was 11lb 3oz and arrived within 3 hours of contractions starting! He was 4 days early.

Advised 9-10lbs days before birth, labour 6 hours and was 12lbs

I could’ve written your post. I’m 37 weeks and have another scan at 38 weeks as baby is 97th percentile.

I’ve been very strongly advised to have induction at 38 weeks or c section. Finding it really emotional knowing what is best to do.
