Birth experiences LGI/ Harrogate/ Sheffield or Emma Ferriman

Hello, I had an extremely traumatic first birth where I live and now I’m pregnant again we are looking at other places and options. I have seen Emma Ferriman offers an antenatal consultant package privately and then NHS birth - does anybody have experience of this? I Cannot see any reviews or comments regarding this but I would love to have met the person who does my c section first to calm myself (medically required due to forceps damage etc.). If no experience of Emma, any Sheffield experiences generally? Or LGI or Harrogate? My first birth hospital was in special measures and I will regret not being more well informed forever so I’m trying to do better this time. Thanks so much all

I’m at LGI, I’ve not given birth but had a few complications and been in a lot and they have been great. I’m consultant led, always see the same consultant and see the same community midwife (I see her weekly for checkups), I’ve had 10 scans so far and sonographers are great too. LGI is CQC rated as a good hospital, only downside is the appointment system is a bit disorganised and it can take a while to get through on the phone and the parking is terrible!
I was admitted to Harrogate overnight when I was at my mums as I was bleeding heavily and I felt the consultant didn’t really know much about my condition or how to treat me. I went in at 8pm and it took until 6am to admit me to the ward which ended up being an overflow ward (the nidderdale) with patients mostly general surgery and orthopaedic. The nurses were lovely, but I didn’t see the consultant until 4pm who scanned me and discharged me saying to contact my GP for a prescription of progesterone and LGI for a follow up scan. It turns out progesterone can only be prescribed by a GP under a gynaecologist supervision (which the consultant presumably should have known) and ended up causing a lot more stress and my poor GP trying to sort it with Leeds. Harrogate’s CQC is requires improvement and from my limited pre-birth experience is I’d agree with them.
Leeds also has NICU whilst Harrogate doesn’t.

I had my first baby in Harrogate and they were lovely. You can pay for a private room on the ward if there is one available and everyone was excellent. They have a great reputation. I had a private midwife and she recommended Harrogate when I had to be induced. They let her stay and were very helpful.
sheffield used to be amazing but my understanding is they have gone downhill significantly. If I had another hospital birth I would pick Harrogate. I only had experience of the maternity ward though, nowhere else.

I work at Sheffield and had the pleasure of Emma looking after me with my youngest. Quick section and easy and recovery.

I had my three children at Jessops Sheffield and would say I've had a mixed experience. The first was a lovely experience but they generally seemed to be very stretched with the second and third (third during Covid). I couldn't get into be induced because no space until I eventually went into labour naturally at 16 days overdue with one of my babies, despite me insisting I was extremely worried about being so overdue. Staff lovely and I was generally very well cared for very well in labour and delivery but the wards weren't a great experience with overstretched staff. I understand they've had a bad inspection outcome and subsequently improved since then. Not sure what caused the outcome so maybe some of those issues have been addressed.

Emma delivered my daughter 14 years ago at the LGI and my son 13 years ago at the LGI. I am having another planned c section with her next week and found she is based in Sheffield Jessops Wing. She is the best and I wouldn't go anywhere else. We travel a while to see her and would've travelled to anywhere in the country to see her. Sheffield hospital have been brilliant throughout my whole pregnancy and I can not recommend Emma enough.

I've had two at the LGI in last few years. Have nothing to compare it to but had no issues/concerns. Someone mentioned parking and yes that is a bit of a pain.
