Is it normal to have period pains after a sweep?

I had a sweep about 2 hours ago and now I'm experiencing awful period pains. Is this normal? Will they tail off? First time I've had a sweep and it's my 3rd birth. Never had these horrendous period pains with my other births, just gentle contractions that increased and became more intense.

Good grief - that reminds me of my DS1 who stayed inside for 43 weeks.
Confused

@TheShellBeach 🤣 tbf I'm only 40 weeks today. Going to reluctantly dtd tonight to see if that triggers anything before being induced tomorrow. Really want to avoid being induced if I can help it.

How are you @Lizbiz89?

Lizbiz89 · 21/10/2023 11:05

@mumtotwox baby was born yesterday! Went in to be induced. 3 hours from pessary to baby! Quite traumatic actually as I went from 0 to 100 in half an hour. Nearly gave birth on induction ward. Pain was unreal! Anyway delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 7.14ibs 😊

20 years ago now for me but yes. I found the sweep horribly painful and had cramps afterwards and a lot of bleeding. Not sure if the bleeding was normal but all was fine snd it kicked off labour sbd dad was born that evening .

Hey @Lizbiz89 you're a star!

Many congratulations on your little boy's safe delivery.

I'm really glad it was quick for you in the end.

Well done!
