I have been having period like pains and backache since friday evening, last night I had an hour and a half of really intense contractions every few minutes, that suddenly stopped, had a few this morning as well, but now back to the period like pains and backache, how long could this go on for?

Spoke to the day assesment unit and they have agreed to see me this afternoon!

Ongoing stomach cramps but they don't feel serious enough or last long enough to be labour!! Driving me mad though. Have now had cramps on and off since Thursday without anything actually happening!

MarsLady · 17/03/2008 15:55

Peachy... they don't look. I promise that they don't look Now, relax and visualise. Bring that baby down.

Hmmm. Just got back from a walk and think I have had another little bit of a show - well a bit of brown blood but no mucus in my knickers (sorry, I know that is TMI!). Is it normal to get another small show two weeks after a first one? Or should I worry? Blood is definitely brown not red.

merryberry · 17/03/2008 17:25

i had clear, completely clear, mucus plug come away over 2 days 10 days before delivery, then 3 days before delivery I had a much weaker show with a few filaments of red capillary blood in it twice.

turtle23 · 17/03/2008 17:28

Acupuncture very nice and very relaxing. Immediate response from LO was to move to LOA when he's been ROA since 23 weeks. Getting a bit crampy, but then...I usually do this time of day. Am guessing that I will still be here annoying everyone in two weeks' time.

JFly · 17/03/2008 18:37

Good news about shows and acupuncture. Here's hoping it turns into labour for you!

HQ, I'm still betting you'll have yours before me!

biscuitbarrel · 17/03/2008 20:07

Am a long, long time lurker (here and March thread), but just wanted to add another voice to the 'had a show but still no baby' list- I had a show at 34 weeks, thought everything was going to happen early, but am 40 weeks today .

I live in New Zealand, and it's the end of summer here, so sweltering hot too!

You can't get a sweep until 41 weeks here, so very jealous of those who have been able to try the sweep option. Totally agree with Angua re the hiding of overdue preggers ladies- where do you think they'll keep us?

Hope you are all having a better run of it today that babies start arriving soon!

AnguaVonUberwald · 17/03/2008 20:15

Biscuitbarrel, glad I am not alone in my paranoia, maybe there are special farms where they keep us?

Whenirishsquonksaresmiling:

Well, the baby is all the way down, the heartbeat is good, I am having contractions but they are too weak to do any good!!!

So the good news is that the baby is fine! The bad news is that, as I thought, all the pain I have been going through is for nothing.

the midwife also told me that last thursday (when I was going to go in and they were full), they actually had to shut the labour ward to new arrivals as they were so busy!!!

Turtle23, very interested in if acupuncture works, as considering some myself, please keep us updated.

JFly, did you get another sweep?

turtle23 · 17/03/2008 20:17

Have just found out where they hide them. They are imprisoned for killing the one person too many who texts/emails/rings and says "Had the baby yet?"

turtle23 · 17/03/2008 20:19

And before you ask...I think I have it in me to put up with about one more such communication.

AnguaVonUberwald · 17/03/2008 20:21

NB, I find the whole, labour ward closing thing very scary, but apparently the last time it happened was two years ago, so hopefully its not a common occurance.

Turtle23, at least people have stopped telling me I am "HUGE", maybe they are scared of what would happen if they did!

merryberry · 17/03/2008 21:01

oo, turtle, still here? not had the baby yet?

turtle23 · 17/03/2008 21:04

Help!...I didn't mean to do it!...who'd have thought that two bullets to the head would have done her in after what she survived the other day? She gave birth to a toddler FFS......

JFly · 17/03/2008 22:15

Merry, you are terrible.

Nope, didn't bother with asking for another sweep. Couldn't face going to hospital and waiting and all that lark. I can wait until Wednesday.

If I get that far! Have had a little show, not bloody, but something anyway - followed by teensiest, tiniest BH so it gives me hope.

But swear to god, if my mother calls again this week, I will go insane.

nezelette · 17/03/2008 22:27

This thread is like a soap. I've been totally addicted for weeks. Do you mind if I join?
I think I fit the required profile:
-Due in three days.
-Have been convinced I'm in labour every night for the past two weeks. Stupid amounts of BH. Had the in-laws drive all the way from Sussex in the middle of the night last week (to take care of DD) as I was SURE that was it
-Baby getting increasingly enormous.
-Last baby was overdue.
-Drink JUGS of raspberry leaf tea.
-Like frequent bacon sarnies.

camillathechicken · 17/03/2008 22:38

hello! have been out for the day, and expected to come back to a threadful of brand new babies ! what have you all been doing??

sleep well all x

HolidaysQueen · 17/03/2008 23:11

nezelette - i was reading your list of almost-there symptoms and snorted with laughter at "like frequent bacon sarnies"

We've just had friends round for dinner and I piled lots of chilli into and on top of my food. And guess what - the braxton hicks have completely stopped! So much for spicy food getting the baby moving...

Slightly gutted that I won't have a St Patrick's Day baby as I have such a large Irish family. Unless I go from 0-60 in the next 51 minutes that is...

camillathechicken · 18/03/2008 08:45

morning everyone, anyone got any twinges to report?

turtle23 · 18/03/2008 09:31

Hmm. Had no BH or anything last night. Have decided am no longer pregnant. Going to just get on with life.

HolidaysQueen · 18/03/2008 09:36

Turtle. I too sometimes wonder if I just ate too many pies...

Very sore, achy pelvis last night and this morning, and DH convinced bump has dropped some more yesterday after my walk. If this baby gets any lower then he's just going to fall out

HolidaysQueen · 18/03/2008 09:37

JFly - are you still with us, or has your baby decided to get a move on given induction is looming over him/her?

CricketsMum · 18/03/2008 10:59

Am going to join in from the March thread... think Turtle and HQ are bang on re deciding they are no longer pregnant... with them all the way there. Could even almost contemplate going back to work again if I didn't have to feel so huge all the time (and yes Turtle, I know my bump is comparatively small and I'm sure I don't know I'm born!) Have spent the last several days feeling as though I have horrendous PMT (can't be pregnant right?) and enduring my fair share of niggles. Am 40 weeks today and not sure my body is ever going to figure out that the general plan is that the baby comes out sometime, ideally without being induced. Unfortunately I think it is enjoying all the cakes too much!
