I gave birth yesterday.... traumatised (trigger warning)

And I had my completely natural child birth (2nd time mum) that I wanted.

But I feel utterly traumatised and I have cried all day today.

I feel so guilty, like I should be on top of the world like I was after #1.

But the pain, the memory of it all, I feel like I have PTSD. I was totally out of control. It was very fast and totally unmedicated.

I just can't stop crying.

Has anyone experienced this, and did it ease with time?

I was like this with my son. I spent 2 weeks crying uncontrollably. Nearly diagnosed with pnd but suddenly it just lifted. Traumatic and non medicated also (not through choice). You have my sympathies.

I felt like this with DD1 - brought back memories 10 years later. My waters broke and I went to hospital (30minute drive), midwife said I wasn't in labour, I was in so much pain but because I didn't have regular contractions I was offered a couple of paracetamol and told to leave the ward. An hour later I was rushed to the labour ward in a wheelchair with a baby's head between my legs. I tore and was stitched without pain relief because I didn't even think to ask. Took me a few weeks to process it all. On the plus side I knew exactly what to expect with Dc2 and Dc3 and for both I was able to do nursery/school pickup, have baby, and be back home for breakfast and do drop off the next day- very convenient!

I didn’t have pain relief for DS (14) after a bad reaction to an epidural with DD.

In all honesty, I haven’t forgotten the pain of DS’s quick birth, but it’s become a distant memory. Give yourself time to create happy memories with your new baby and it’ll fade. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone for the amazing solidarity and advice.

I'm feeling much calmer and happier now.

Hormones are WILD!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. And congratulations on your lovely baby Flowers

They certainly are. I hope you are feeling a bit better. I was thinking of youxxx

I'd say hormones. I remember having had to go back on the floor where it happened a few days later and almost having a weird panic attack. You'll be fine. Just feel whatever you're feeling and notice the good things.
