Av malformation of uterus

everyone,

I had a c section 4 months ago. I have been bleeding since. I had a scan which showed fluid and maybe retained products. I was sent for an mri yesterday and a gynaecologist called me today to discuss results.

She said I might have avm (av malformation) in uterus. From my understanding it's to do with my veins and arteries and thats why I'm bleeding and it needs to be sealed to stop.

Apparently very rare and I can't find much about it, obviously googling it and it's come up with hysterectomy and even death if not sorted. (I know it's not that extreme because they would of called me in) they said I need an additional scan.

Has anyone had experience of this or know anything about it? I am so worried. Some many thoughts going through my mind, am I going to be ok for my little one, can I have more children.

@Lolalu09 hi sorry to hear what you have been through after your birth. I know it’s been a while since you posted this but I have recently had an AVM confirmed after a D&C for a miscarriage, I spent 4 days in ICU and am on the mend, it was an IVF pregnancy so we obviously wanted to try again as soon as possible, I was just wondering if you were told anything about having Children in the future? Or anything else that they might of said about it as information does seam limited.
thanks so much xx

@Francescarae sorry to hear of your avm and miscarriage. How are you feeling now?

In the end I found out I didn't have a AVM. However, before this I was told pregnancy was possible. I don't know if you want too but there's a AVM group of Facebook with so many women saying they have had successful pregnancies after. Maybe have a look on there 😀

Hey @Lolalu09 thanks for your reply. Mine definitely is an AVM and has successfully been embolised, they have said that I can go ahead with another embryo transfer which is great news, nervous after what happened though but I will do it. The only thing is there is something showing on my cervix which wasn’t there pre pregnancy so they think it might be healing maybe from the surgery so they are sending me for an MRI scan on Friday to make sure and then hopefully should be able to do another embryo transfer in the summer if all is okay with my cervix, they have said that they will over scan me because of the AVM and it’s not necessarily because they are worried, but I still can’t help but worry a little bit but they seem confident that it won’t cause problems to a future pregnancy. I might have a look I’m a bit scared to though in case I see anything bad.

Hope things are okay with you? Xx
