What was your third birth like if you had an epidural?

Just found out I'm pregnant with baby no3 and I'm actually dreading the birth already. First birth was horrendous, had too much intervention which led to an epidural and forcep/episiotomy delivery. Recovery was terrible. Second birth was a much better experience but my 2nd stage was barely an hour and I pushed him out in 10 minutes of being at the birth centre. I felt EVERYTHING. So I'm just wondering what peoples experiences were of having epidurals with subsequent births? Was it a positive experience for you?

Yes, it was positive. Slept through most of the labour and he was out in two pushes.

Yes, exactly the same as your experiences so had a csection with 3rd 😆 it was great!

Thanks for the replies. @Iwant2move did you need any stitches or anything? And were you up and walking quite quickly after? When I had an epidural with my first I was basically bedbound for ages. Probably partly because my downstairs was so sore!

No stitches after third. Felt like if I’d sneezed with my knees open, he would have shot out.

I didn't have time for an epidural with #1 as I got to the hosp too late. He tore me a new one..

#2 I had epidural and it was okay. Pushed for a while but didn't tear.

#3 I just had pethidine and gas and air and she took 5 pushes! Was up and doing food shopping when she was 4 days old. X

Thanks @Iwant2move . Sounds ideal!

@GoT1904 I've never had pethidine during labour. Did it help a lot with the pain? I would assume you'd have to be quite early on in the labour to be able to get it as well? My concern is that my labour would be too fast.

I hadn't had it either till then but yes I remember it working very well. When I needed the bathroom I would have to stand by the bed and huff my gas and air, then go as soon as the contraction was over and try to make it back before the next one.. However after pethidine I remember being able to just go to the bathroom.

I do remember transition still being a toughie, but I'm planning on using pethidine and gas and air again this time as it served me well.

@GoT1904 if you don't mind me asking was your labour long? My biggest concern is my 2nd stage labour with my last baby was 15 minutes and I might not make it to hospital in time.
