Feeling nauseous and terrible headache, normal or sign of labour?

Hi!
might be a silly question but don’t really have senses at the moment. I’m 36 weeks pregnant. Had headache a few hours ago, took paracetamol and it subsided. But now the headache has returned and felt really nauseous and started to puke (sorry).also had issues from the digestive tract. Just feel so drained and even writing this took me a while. sorry for any errors made in advance.

i can also feel a lot of kicks and movements suddenly- don’t feel any contractions as such. Shall I be concerned or does this happen towards the end of pregnancy? Maybe something I ate? Still feel nauseous.

had been stressed out last few days so not sure if it’s just that.

It might just be a bug or a headache but I would definitely get it checked out at your stage in pregnancy just to be on the safe side. Give call 111 a call just to put your mind at rest.

RoaRoaRasputin · 26/01/2023 21:29

I didnt get this.

KangarooKenny · 26/01/2023 21:29

You need to get your BP checked. Ring delivery suite for advice.

USaYwHatNow · 26/01/2023 21:31

Midwife here, I had these symptoms and it turned out to be pre eclampsia (which I ignored for about a week!) ring your maternity unit for advice and get your BP and urine checked.

AftersomeAdvice234 · 26/01/2023 21:32

Could be preeclampsia so please call your midwife or the labour unit

Emmamoo89 · 26/01/2023 21:33

Definitely call your midwife x

PinkPlantCase · 26/01/2023 21:37

Agree could be preeclampsia, call the unit

Kardelen · 26/01/2023 22:00

I didn’t think about pre eclampsia actually. I feel slightly better now. Did you have the headache/symptoms for a week?

i have an appointment at 8 am tomorrow with the midwife. Ill mention to her and see how it goes.

thank you everyone

Is there suddenly more fetal movement with pre eclampsia

does your maternity unit have a 24 hour number? It should be there in your hospital notes: I would ring them now and see if you can speak to someone

Kardelen · 26/01/2023 22:11

Thank you I’ll have a look

Northernsoullover · 26/01/2023 22:13

Please don't leave it. The maternity units are staffed 24 hours

LeapingCat · 26/01/2023 22:16

Call now. If it’s HELLP syndrome rather than pre-eclampsia, you don’t have a week. These were my symptoms of HELLP syndrome

LightDrizzle · 26/01/2023 22:17

Get checked out in case it’s pre-eclampsia. It’s just not worth the (hopefully) small risk.

Whiskeypowers · 26/01/2023 22:19

i’d get checked tonight if I were you
hope all is ok

USaYwHatNow · 27/01/2023 05:00

@Kardelen i had what I assumed was one of my many hemiplegic migraines, with visual disturbance, nausea, and a disgusting headache, about a week before I was diagnosed.

I continued to have those symptoms, including the sensation of being very foggy and detached, right up until my baby was born via induction at 37/40, so all in all I had symptoms probably for about 4 weeks but was diagnosed late as I didn't seek help very promptly-i downplayed it thinking it was a migraine and that the swelling was due to the 40C temperatures we were having 😐😬

AftersomeAdvice234 · 28/01/2023 02:23

@Kardelen did you get checked out?

I would say for increase baby movements and the fact you aren’t feeling great these are potentially warning symptoms. You don’t want to wait a day only to be told something bad has happened- they encourage you to get checked out asap

Kardelen · 29/01/2023 08:22

Hiya!

yeah I did, thank you. they just said to keep an eye as I felt better. On the midwife appointment she said the bp etc was normal so maybe it was just a one off of a thing which I still don’t know why it happened
