IN HOSPITAL WAITING ON LABOUR!! Shall I sleep or try to move things along?

Currently on labour ward waiting to have my water broken. quick look back over the last day!

came it at 9am for balloon induction.
no need as was already 3cm.
decided water will be broken but need to wait for 1-1 midwife before this happens.
Was having contractions about 2 in 10, not awful but they were catching me out!
cut to midnight went to sleep eventually.
awake again now, lost quite a lot of plug/having bloody show.
contractions slowed down but keep going to bathroom (tmi)

so the question is, to sleep or bounce/nipple stimulation/run up and down every stair I can get my bloody feet on out of sheer desperation??!

any night owls available for the company??

thanks to anyone in advance!

Sleep! It’ll happen in good time. So exciting. Do you know what you are having?

DuchessofSandwich · 25/11/2022 05:05

Sleep. I firmly believe that being more relaxed helps more than nipple stimulation etc. So sleep and let it happen.

Qweryy123 · 25/11/2022 05:06

@VioletPickles i know you are right!! No not yet, always keep that bit secret until the last minute just for the novelty!!

thanks for your reply as well!!!!

however, not sure the bowel movements are agreeing to let me sleep which is definitely a good thing in terms of things moving! Might have a shower and then see what’s occurring! (Little reference to a bbc comedy if you fancy a guess to entertain me haha!)

If sleeping is an option, personally I'd sleep while you can. All the best.

Norachance · 25/11/2022 05:08

Have you been awake all this time or have you had some sleep? I think I would be inclined to walk around for a while especially if things have slowed down. Gravity may help things along!

Delphinium20 · 25/11/2022 05:10

If sleeping is possible, by all means, do it. Trying to stay awake won't make it go faster. Good luck to you! You've got this...now get some sleep :)

Qweryy123 · 25/11/2022 05:10

@DuchessofSandwich i agree!! And also, who am I to turn down sleep haha!!! Give me all the bloody sleep!!!

lots of movement down there as in bowel and show so it is definitely getting prepared.

I have a thing about being in labour in the day, so will have to just get in the zone in the day time and not let it distract me! Going to get OH to bring the travel blackout curtains!!
