Anyone have a good induction story

Hi there

I have an induction booked for next week when I will be over 41 weeks. I have had a very easy (first) pregnancy so far, lucky me! But I fear this is where my luck runs out. I am overdue now and I just can't see this baby coming naturally at all Sad

I only ever seem to hear about how awful inductions are. Both in real life and here on mumsnet.

Please, is there anyone with positive induction stories? I'm torn about whether or not to go ahead with the induction date or if I should push it back further.

Feeling very anxious that the induction will be rough and I'll have a lot of interventions and subsequent recovery problems Sad

Mine was absolutely fine, all calm (well, them, not me 🤣🤣), no interventions.
The chance of a successful induction is increased if it's for being overdue as baby is ready to be born then anyway and you often just need a little push to send you into labour 😊

Yes! And I always post on these threads so you've probably read my story before. Induced at 41+5 with pessary, fast and furious labour but totally managed with Freya app to focus on and TENS machine. Had gas and air last 15 mins. Baby out easily in less than 5 pushes and 3 hours after pessary inserted. Would do it again in a heartbeat!! Enjoy your lovely baby when they arrive.

Induced at 37+6 as my waters had gone, I was really stressed as so wanted to avoid induction! I went straight on the drip as I was a bit too dilated for the pessary, snoozed through the first hour or so and then DS was born after 6 hours. I had gas and air but had already had a chat with the anaesthetist so I would be ready if I did want an epidural. 2nd degree tear which healed well and quickly and would have been discharged from labour suite if my waters hadn't broken more than 24hrs early.

It was fine, sped things up for sure!

I was induced at 40+5 due to maternal age. The 24 hour pessary went in at midday and baby was born at 2230. My body clearly needed a slight kickstart because the pessary started having effects within half hour of going in. Baby was born on a midwife-led unit in the water pool and I had no tears. My only issue was feeling breathless afterwards, but that turned out to be covid! Overall a good experience and a very short hospital stay, I was discharged from delivery and home by 8am the next day.
