Woke at 4 this morning to find that I'm bleeding. Rang the hospital who said to come in. Have been monitired and examined and baby is fine and the doctor said it was a show and I am 1cm dilated and that my waters are intact and to keep an eye on things. Am 37+1. My parents are out of the country until next week. It's all a bit scary.
Not really wanting any advice or anything just needed to tell someone.

Do you have a DH or DP around BellaBear ?
I had a show about 10 days before DD2 was born so doesn't necessarily mean things are imminent.
Is this your first ?

3sEnough · 17/01/2008 09:08

What fun!!! Yes - it's scary/exciting/pant pooingly worrying all at the same time! It doesn't necessarily mean you will go into labour really quickly - I always had a show during labour, but friends had a show days before - you may not wait for your M&D though - you may be able to present them with a lovely surprise. xx

sweetbean · 17/01/2008 09:09

Just wanted to send you my love and wish you all the best !! xx
Some times it can be a week or so untill you go in to labour even if you have a show but is there anyway you acn get your Partner to come back early ?
Good luck XXXXX

37 weeks is classed as full term i thought... try not to panic.. is this your first?

if you are not having regular pains yet, then baby could well hang on for a few more days..

i had a show at 39 weeks, and baby did not arrive until bang on 40 weeks.

even so, if baby does arrive in the next day or two, should be absolutely fine

BellaBear · 17/01/2008 09:13

Thank you for messages! DH is around, poor thing has an exam this evening, he stupidly came home from work yesterday and told me I could have the baby as he had got all the big jobs out of the way! So he is in bed now. I am just pootling around. I'm not in any pain, but the consultant said she could feel some contractions (how come she can if I can't?)

yes my first.

yes 37 weeks is term, but still feels early, have only just started ML! My mum was early with both me and my sister.

ConnorTraceptive · 17/01/2008 09:14

I had a show at 39 weeks and still had to be induced at 42 weeks so I wouldn't panic yet.

My midwife keeps referring to 37 weeks as full term so even if baby comes now that's ok.

lulumama · 17/01/2008 09:15

if you cannot feel them , then don;t worry ! you are possibly in the latent phase, and labour will let you know when it requires your attention...
take a bath, eat something, read, lie down, whatever you feel like doing.. no point just waiting, IFYSWIM....
exciting!

FoghornLeghorn · 17/01/2008 09:15

I have had the with both of my DD's Bellabear, the trace machine was picking p contractions but I had no idea - it doesn't stay that way for long though so don't panic .
Like Lulumama said, 37weeks is term so even if baby does come soon, everything will be fine

BellaBear · 17/01/2008 09:16

I know this is a bit pathetic, but I want my mum!

FoghornLeghorn · 17/01/2008 09:17

Not pathetic Bella, not at all.
Was your mum going to be your birth partner ?

Although I didn't want my mum to be in the room while I was giving birth with DD1, she was virtually outside the door, she stayed through all 28 hours. I know how you feel

BellaBear · 17/01/2008 09:18

No, DH is. SHe would be telling me to pull myself together to be honest! Which is generally good for me. But my parents are a very very long way away until tuesday

lulumama · 17/01/2008 09:18

oh sweetheart.. course you want your mum! is there a friend who can come over? i remember asking for my mum when i was in labour. it is only natural.

FoghornLeghorn · 17/01/2008 09:19

Tuesday isn't too far away ....

MarsLady · 17/01/2008 09:21

Jut to give you some encouragement Bella. I had a client who this happened to and it was 2 weeks before her baby came. Women can often be dilated for weeks without knowing. You know because of the bleeding. 37 weeks is okay.

Try not to worry (I know it's easier said than done).

scorpio1 · 17/01/2008 09:21

Hi Bella

maybe your baby will hang on a few more days, they do say you can have a show up to 2 weeks before baby appears.

get some rest, eat well and get excited!!

BellaBear · 17/01/2008 09:25

Thnak you everyone

i'm still bleeding a bit, do you think that's because of the examination (it was a bit rough, and she pulled out some blood as she did it)? At 4am it was pink with clots, then it went brown and then it had seemed to have stopped. Nowit is red again. Probably just a continuation, yes?

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 17/01/2008 09:27

sounds like it bella, i know that you can bleed red after a sweep so was similar i expect.

MarsLady · 17/01/2008 09:49

As long as it is just a little. Just go about your normal day but take things easy. I'm sure your mum will be there in time for you.

BellaBear · 17/01/2008 09:53

it is only a little. i'll ring the hospital if it gets worse.

OP posts:
BellaBear · 17/01/2008 15:51

i'm still bleeding but it is the same sort of stuff and not heavy at all. I can feel the baby moving and I'm not in any pain so I don't think I should be worried. And I definitely haven't had any waters breaking. It's kind of link pink mucusy stuff, a bit on the pad and a bit when I wipe.

MarsLady · 17/01/2008 18:03

lots of show then. Cool! Keep us informed. We do love a good birth thread

Bellabear - how exciting and scary too, I was going through the same a few days ago after a sweep but I was feeling "bring it on" because I am 40+4 now but it's all died off it's more than 48 hours later and nothing else has happened!

coggy · 19/01/2008 15:10

Hey MrsMc....I've been looking for you!!!

Natty was asking after you and I said I hadn't seen you on here for a couple of days.....exciting stuff eh??!!
