Overdue and induced with no.1 - increased chances of that happeneing this time? (and few other Qs)

Just starting to think about the birth a little more, last time I wanted a water birth but was induced at 9/10days (overnight) overdue and had an episiotomy and ventouse delivery. I ended up having an epidural because I was kept on the bed on a monitor and had already been in labour about 18 hours and was shattered, but I know second births are usually quicker so I would like to try for a water birth again. What are the chances of going overdue again and being induced? DO they increase if you have done before, or is it just the same chance as no.1? If you have had an episiotomy before aswell, is it very likely you will have it again? DS was only 6lb6oz so hardly a massive baby! Can you have a waterbirth if you are likely to need one or tear? Am I now higher risk? THanks in advance xxx

not sure about most of the answers to your questions I'm afraid, but I think inductions for being overdue tend to be more common in first birth. I was induced as overdue with DD but DS was a week late and a natural labour

I was induced with both of mine. No 2 was born an hour and a quarter after the pessary! Good luck.

The majority of first time babies are overdue. You don't have to be induced if you don't want to be. You can use watchful waiting and have scans every few days to keep an eye on things.

Don't know about episiotomies sorry - surely you had the episiotomy so you could have the ventouse rather than because you weren't stretching enough?

my 1st was overdue and i was induced which failed, so ended up having a c-section. he was 2 weeks late. my arrived a week late, i was in early labour for a week before and went into labour but his heart rate dropped and ended up with an emergency section.

I think, from my very unscientific anecdotal research, some women are always late and some women are always early. So if you have a late first baby, you are more likely to have a late second baby.

Doesn't always happen though. My first was 11 days late and induced, and with the second I went into labour on the day of the elective caesarean at bang on 39 weeks.
