If you had a long first labour but less than 1hr labour with your second

What was your third birth like?

Half of me is worried I'll have an even quicker labour this time round and the other half of me worries I'll have a terrible labour as everyone keeps saying thirds are tricky! 🙈

Following with interest as I'm in the exact same position!

Me too, although not quite that quick second time! My main worry is how overdue I'll go 🙈

If you laboured and gave birth for less than an hour with no.2 I believe statistically the chances of you having another precipitous labour are greatly increased. Anything under 3 hours is considered precipitous. Haven’t your midwives flagged this as a concern? I was told very sternly shortly after DC2’s birth that were I to get pregnant and give birth again it would likely be very quick and so close monitoring and call for midwife/go to hospital at any sign.

Not yet, they encouraged another home birth and have marked my notes with my second labour time but am only 14 weeks so haven't had a proper discussion about it yet. Hoping for another quick one!!

My first labour was 35 minutes (4cm to her being born), with about 2 hours before that from first contraction. my second was almost 14 hours from first contraction to 5cm, then from 5cm to him being born was 1hr25mins but he was back to back and bigger than they'd have liked for my body size, so much more work to get him out.
Currently 10 weeks with my third and like you, scared as to how this one will go! 😳

My third was the best one of them all. I was induced with the first two and whilst it took a little while to get to 2 cm it was less than two hours from that to birth. Super intense and stressful.
Third one was born at home and it was such a nice change to be where I was comfortable and relaxed.

My first was a failed induction ending with a CS
My next 3 labours were precipitous, vaginal births, all pretty similar in how they began, length and how I managed.

Can’t remember my exact lengths of established labour for my first two but they weren’t long. Established labour under three hours for first and two hours for the second. But my third rocketed out. I was 5cms at 3am at 3.05am he was in my arms. I was 2cms at 1.15 so the alt et stage wasn’t particularly long. It was very a traumatic and incredibly painful delivery and we had to spend a few days in hospital but thankfully we were
Home four days laters. I think he was almost in shock and I certainly was

good luck

1st 6 hours active Labour (26 hours total)

2nd 27 mins total

3rd…. Would have been about 5 mins total if she hadn’t been breech and got stuck! Her body was delivered 5 mins after my first contraction.

Following with interest! My first was pretty much bang on 10 hours.

My second was 65 minutes from first contraction to birth of placenta. So I’m worried the third will just pop out with no warning!?

I was worried about this too. First was 30 hours (induction), second was technically an induction but all they did was break my waters as I was already 4cm dilated (after a few days of irregular and not painful contractions) and he was born 1.5 hours later. I was stressing a bit as my mum is my only option for childcare and she lives 4 hours away! But DD1 was a 7 hour labour. I don’t know if it was longer because she was a week early or if it was because it was a natural labour not induction.
