Any experiences of labour with DP who has special needs?

My husband has MS and often struggles to walk or stand up for long and sometimes uses a wheelchair. He also needs to rest regularly. Does anyone have experience of how accommodating labour wards are for Partners with disabilities? I don't want to spend most of my next labour worrying about it (I'll probably offer him the bed to lie down!)

I will discuss with the hospital nearer the time but would be nice to know other's experiences

I'm not sure if all labour wards are the same but in the hospital I had DS there was enough room for a wheelchair in the delivery suite as the room was quite spacious and also next to the bed was an easy chair that reclined for partners to sleep on. So no first hand experience but am sure everything will be OK.

You can book a wheelchair accessible room in advance at our hospital. They are quite accomodating if your birth partner is the one who has SN rather than you too. Best thing is to go see the delivery unit and ask them - they have a form in your notes called special handling - ask them to note it in there.
